I'm sorry he resigned. What he was apparently trying to do was throw her slavery analogy back in her fat face. The words "narcissistic self-serving bitch" were coined with a person like Palin in mind. Lipstick on a pit bull, indeed. That's an insult to pit bulls everywhere.
Sarah Palin Refused to Apologize for Lecturing Black People on Slavery, But Martin Bashir Goes
After shocking Jake Tapper by smugly lecturing African Americans on the meaning of slavery, Sarah Palin refused to apologize when Tapper gave her a chance. Instead, she told him, “I’m not one to be politically correct, evidently.” She should have qualified that with “unless someone is daring to treat me as I treat others.”
And this is how the Victim Machine that is Sarah Palin and the entire Conservative movement got Martin Bashir to leave his MSNBC show after he suggested that Sarah Palin might try being a slave before lecturing others on it.
Oh, except he used Palinesque language to make his point, and that is not okay. Bashir called Palin a “dunce”, kinda like she calls President Obama someone who palls around with terrorists and makes “death panels” to “kill” her baby, and he suggested she try the same treatment as slaves received from a plantation owner named Thomas Thistewood, which involved being urinated and defecated on. It is not Bashir’s fault that Palin defended people being urinated and defecated on, let alone an institution that cost millions of people their lives, which was the entire point of his rant.
So Palin is very upset by what he said to her, but no one is upset that she defended slavery and lectured black people about it. Palin has been busy protesting MSNBC for not firing Bashir.
Sarah Palin isn’t “stupid”. She knows exactly what she’s doing. She was sued as governor because she refused to sign the Juneteenth proclamation. Juneteenth is an official holiday in 29 states that marks the freeing of the last remaining slaves on June 19, 1865. It became an official holiday in Alaska in 2001.
Palin left school in Hawaii, her father told the media, because of the “minority type thing” that wasn’t “glamorous” there. The Huffington Post reported on an excerpt from the book, Sarah from Alaska:
"But Palin’s father, Chuck Heath, gave a different account to Conroy and Walshe. According to him, the presence of so many Asians and Pacific Islanders made her uncomfortable: “They were a minority type thing and it wasn’t glamorous, so she came home.” In any case, Palin reports that she much preferred her last stop, the University of Idaho, “because it was much like Alaska yet still ‘Outside.’ “"
Palin’s called Obama a terrorist lover and encouraged questioning his birth certificate. She’s called him shucking and jiving and lackadaisical. In case anyone is missing the point, pretending that slavery didn’t involve torture and rape and kill millions is equivalent to denying the Holocaust.
It’s hate speech, and it’s not the only hate speech the Queen of putting crosshairs over Gabby Gifford’s district engages in. Oh, but Palin was a victim after 9-year-old Christina Taylor Green and Gifford and so many other innocents were shot – that’s when she gave us her offensive hate speech about “Blood libel”, calling people who suggested that she tone down her rhetoric guilty of “blood libel.” She complained, as the nation struggled to digest the murders, that “depraved liberals” blamed her for the massacre.
So the network that employs Palin stands by slavery denial and blood libel equivocations.
Sarah Palin is not an idiot. She has claimed that celebrities like Matt Damon, David Letterman, Madonna, Howard Stern and Bill Maher were trying to kill her children. No, really. So that’s okay to say. She’s not well, and she shouldn’t be allowed to pollute the airwaves with her hate. The McCain staffers that got to know her decided that if McCain won, they would have to force him to limit her powers or get her to step down. Not because she was incompetent (though clearly she was), but because the idea of her as Vice President was “unfathomable” and “frightening.”
That is the person MCNBC just let push out Martin Bashir.
It is the opinion of one of PoliticusUSA writer Justin Baragona that Bashir perhaps shouldn’t have had to apologize. It is my opinion that one does not need to go where Bashir went to make a point with a perpetual victim like Sarah Palin. Never give her the excuse to climb up on the cross of other people’s real victimhood to glorify herself and raise money. He should have known better than that, but his was still one of the very best shows on MSNBC.
Bashir didn’t go anywhere near the cutoff for conservatives. He was harsh about the truth, but it needed to be said. Someone needed to say it, just like years ago when it took another country to say that Sarah Palin was a traitor to her country. It’s not okay to lecture descendents of slaves about slavery and deny that it was much worse than a policy you disagree with. It’s heinous and wrong, and one day it will be seen properly as hate speech.
When you run around dishing out hate speech, you try good people’s patience. Instead of stabbing Bashir in the back, the media should examine their casual embrace of conservative hate speech.
Speaking of which, Glenn Beck — Obama is Hitler — will be on CNN this Friday for a full hour — because that kind of hate speech is also okay. The only thing you can’t do is tell Glenn Beck to try being on the receiving end of Hitler. Now that’s just unacceptable.
