It is PERFECT here in Northeast Florida.  Blue skies, in the 70s.  LOVE this time of year in Florida!

Perfect day!!!  Traffic was almost gridlocked for much of the 20 miles in the AM.  We opened the Sun Roof and my wife stood up in the seat and took photos.  Good People, good time.  Gear heads love their cars and know how to have a good time.  I would wager there was well over a 100,000 people there, maybe many many  more.  Ate a great buffet at the Island View Casino for 11.99.  More later

On a more somber note I stopped by the Mississippi Vietnam War memorial in Ocean Springs to pay my respects..  I was very moved. They did a great job.  They have the photos of the brave people who gave their all.

Ocean Springs - Vietnam Veterans Memorial gives unique look at history

Built in 1996, this beautiful black granite memorial is a tribute to the men and women who served in the Vietnam War. (Photo submitted by Vietnam Memorial website.)
Jackson County is home to the Mississippi Vietnam Veterans Memorial located in Ocean Springs adjacent to the city's civic center on U.S. 90.

It is one of 19 locations included in the county's upcoming bicentennial passport program of historical sites.

Many Mississippians served in the controversial conflict and many more were affected. This site memorializes the 667 casualties, dead and missing in action, from Mississippi. It is also a living tribute to those Vietnam Veterans who survived and a healing and learning legacy for all.

The names of all Mississippi dead and those missing in action are laser engraved on black granite panels on two parallel walls.

While all 50 states have Vietnam Memorials, Ocean Springs' is unique in that photographs from almost all of these casualties are also displayed on the laser-etched granite.

The Memorial site also honors World War I, World War II and Korean War veterans.

Exhibits include a pedestal mounted "Hey" helicopter in MedEvac colors. Honoring Navy veterans, the entire main mast from the retired nuclear cruiser USS Mississippi towers overhead and the "Tullibee Memorial" recognizes sacrifices by the nation's submarine veterans.

Flags of the Allied Nations (Australia, South Korea, New Zealand, Thailand and SouthVietnam) who fought in Vietnam alongside American troops are flown at this Memorial.

The memorial site was one of three under consideration in 1989, when an agreement was made to place the Memorial on more than four acres of property located on the grounds of the Ocean Springs Civic Center.

The names and images of the 667 Mississippians who were casualties of this war are engraved on this monument. (Photo submitted by Vietnam Memorial website.)
On Dec. 28, 1994, a formal proposal was submitted to the chairmen of the State Senate and House Appropriations Committees for a $1.5 million contribution from the state of Mississippi towards the Memorial's development and construction.

Groundbreaking was celebrated on May 29, 1995, with more than a thousand people in attendance. Actual construction began Dec. 5, 1996 thus realizing the dream of a group of Vietnamese Americans, who wanted to find an appropriate way to show their appreciation to Mississippians who served in the struggle to keep Vietnam a free country.

The first meeting of the Vietnam Veterans Association and Vietnamese Vietnam Veterans in August 1985, some 10 years before the actual groundbreaking, proved to be a successful genesis for the project.

A non-profit organization, the Mississippi Vietnam Veterans Memorial Committee, was created to accept funds for the Memorial.

Its website describes the intent of the Memorial:

"...There is none other like it in all of the United States, nor will you find it replicated anywhere in the world. We have tried to build more than just a memorial. We have built a healing, teaching, living legacy. Families and Vietnam Veterans will come here to heal. Children will stand and seek understanding. If we are to learn, if we are to teach those that travel after us, then the lessons of the past must always be before us..."

that thing looks cool, the vid was a scary ride. I have one teeny issue with it. I hate that the steering wheel comes off.

Great pictures...glad your day was awesome. You have a fun- filled life.

The steering wheel comes off to give the driver room to get in the seat, just like in race cars.. The biggest positive for it is that the ambulance people can take the wheel off to get added room to get the driver out if there is a wreck..
