My brother and I had a couple of white rats as pets for a while.
We kept them in an aquarium with a screen over the top.
At night they would stand on their hind legs and jump up and hit that screen until it popped off, and they could get out.
We tried putting an encyclopedia on top of the screen to weight it down, but they then jumped up, grabbed hold of the screen and gnawed through it and part of the encyclopedia to make their escape.
They always ended up in my sister's bedroom terrifying her for some reason.
As a last resort, my dad took a cookie sheet and punched a bunch of nail holes through it and secured it to the aquarium.
All that night, my brother and I heard, BOING, BOING, BOING, as the rats jumped up and hit the sheet.
In the morning they were both dead.
They had broken their necks hitting the cookie sheet.

The moral to the story is that a bunch of rats hitting their heads on a cookie pan make them candidates to be republicans in Congress.......and probably if they did get out......they would prefer your brother's room.
