The 1976 book is a history of Ashkenazi jewry and Khazaria. The author, Arthur Koestler was himslef a Jewish writer and historian. His book received both positive and negative reviews. I read it and found it to be interesting.
In 1983, Koestler and his wife were found dead together; apparently from suicide. However, one train of thought states the two were murdered.
