Congressman Keith Ellison was arrested Tuesday as part of a planned civil disobedience act during an immigration rally on the National Mall in Washington D.C.
Mike Casca, spokesman for Ellison's office, confirmed the arrest by U.S. Capitol police. The arrest, which happened in front of the Capitol, was for suspicion of a moving violation, Casca said.
Ellison reportedly was asked to move from the roadway and didn't comply. He will pay a $50 fine Tuesday night and be released, Casca said.
Other protesters and members of Congress were arrested with Ellison. Those include Reps. Luis Gutierrez, Joseph Crowley, Al Green, and John Lewis.
