There are literally hundreds of thousands of nonessential govt employees... and they'll prolly get paid like last time.

I do think Obama will attempt to make it as painful as possible for the general public... he is just that mean spirited.

My wife just called from the commissary and they told her that as of the close of business today, they will be closing down with no date set to re-open.

A friend of my daughter works on the base and she wass furloughed today and does not now when she will be going back to work. This is furlough without pay and as they understand it, when they do go back to work, the pay for them will not be retroactive.

So far, the best compromise the GOP has proposed was to allow government to continue functioning in exchange for raising everyone's insurance premiums by 30%, while simultaneously increasing the deficit.

Never negotiate with terrorist.   Real Americans are being hurt, and the nation is losing money because of these terrorist actions.  The President must hold firm or this nation will be terrorized by splinter groups every couple years.  We must hold firm to terrorists and the calls to negotiate should be met with a swift kick in the asz.

Yes the individual mandate does hurt real Americans and calling out the troops to put down dissenters to your glorious corporation benefiting health care mandate will only hurt them more as your tyrannical nature is truly revealed.

The individual mandate hurts nobody. The fines are so small, that most young people will not get insurance and pay the fines. Go get that second job and quit whining so much. Geeez, I thought you believed in initiative and hard work. Get the second job, if you are worried about a fine because you have been a freeloader and have no insurance. What happens when the young people make the economically sound decision to pay the penalty? If they even do that.

The mandate is small the first year at $95.00, but some people cannot afford the $695.00 that the penalty goes up to in 2016. Also, this is not to be treated ass a crime and the IRS will not go after those that do not pay up. That is directly from the IRS website.

People who cannot afford health insurance because the premium based on the lowest-cost plan, or the individual's share of an employer-sponsored plan exceeds 8 percent of their household income are exempt from paying the fine/penalty.

I've already responded to your spiteful idea of getting a second job in the other thread. But just to reiterate my response... I already have a second job but am more than willing to demand that all government employees be put on the military pay scale and if they don't like the pay they are free to seek a job in the private sector or they can take your scornful advice by getting a second job because...
