LOL.
I really don't see the difference in types of gambling...lottery, dog track, horse track, poker rooms....why are casinos worse or different?

They're not, I'm all for it. It is more entertainment than lotto, poker rooms, etc.

The christian fundamentalists will have to fight it.  It's in their nature.  And they number many.  And they'll probably prevail again as they always have.
And millions of dollars will keep going out of the local economy and into the economy of the Mississippi coast.
They don't stop gambling.  All they do is put locals on the road to Mississippi and Atmore.

Linda,
So....off topic, but I'm glad to have a chance to respond on the earlier thread without all the research.  We do get lazier as we get older!

I've talked with many beach people regarding the land tax.  Linda, you are the only person I've found that is paying it, if you really are?  One of the people I call, Mr. PB as he owns MUCH, from commercial to personal and I trust him to know, assured me he is not paying it as it's still pending.  He pays structural, commercial, but not land lease taxes.

I've also checked with some of my neighbors and friends in a position to know......NONE of us are paying land taxes.........yet.

I hope this could help you in discussions with the authorities....nope not Chris.  I do NOT hope this helps with further attacks on the beach as we are already in court.

Good luck!

Again, off topic.

The Al. Atty. General is still trying to close down the casino's in Atmore although Atmore tried to get some of their money claiming taxes. That's what I hate about these christians. Always trying to tell people how to live their lives. He calls gambling a public nuisance.WTH! Then don't gamble if you don't like it.

I have been traveling. I got some bad news that my uncle was in the ospital south of Birmingham, and I have called my cousins and am trying to get there before he passes in the next few days. I stopped at Atmore just to see what the fuss was about. The first time I visited, I do not play slots so I decided to have a buffet. The casino was in a tent, and the buffet was the worse buffet I had ever had. The food was not edible.

I stopped on the way up to visit my uncle, and what a surprise. They have the highest rated steak house in the entire state of Alabama. I was shocked. The presentation and quality of meat was something I have never found in Pensacola. They bring the steaks down from Chicago, and are probably Allen Brother steaks only supplied to the best steakhouses in America.

They have a special going that they will give you credit up to 1000k for slot play as a first time player. Let us say that you lose 300 bucks on your first visit. They will send you a coupon for 300 bucks free play for your next visit. This is as generous of an offer as I have seen in America. I won 400 bucks after I got the new card, so I do not get any credit. I stopped and had a queen size grilled prime rib, backed potato, house salad and my meal came to 48 bucks. I just spent the first part of the week at the Beau Rivage which is the premier casino in Biloxi, and they have nothing which compares to this steakhouse. Mary Mahoneys across the street gets their steaks shipped in, but a 2 hour drive to get the best compared to a little over 40 minutes to get to wind is unbelievable. I am in a state of shock. I do not play slots because all I see is a bunch of zombies hypnotized by lights, sounds, and greed who do not realize you cannot win playing slot machines. I played 20 minutes and hit some good small jackpots and got up with my winnings. The real win was discovering the quality of this steakhouse so close to Pensacola. I can only recommend this as a four star steakhouse. If folks want to close this type of quality down, then they have lost their fricking minds.

What's the steakhouse?

It is in the Casino. It is a 4 star steakhouse. It is a total surprise and I can recommend this to everyone. It is a bit pricy for the area, but the quality and presentation just is not seen locally. I like the Fishhouse but their steaks are not premium. You will spend 20 bucks more for your steak and fixings than you would have to at local restaurants, but this is topnotch......shocking compared to what their old buffet was like.

Most of the women will be taking a bag home with the leftovers because with all the fixings they bring you are almost full by the time you get to the meat. They have an incredible vegetable presentation with a ranch dip, and their fresh bread and special butter were a pleasant surprise. I do not recommend playing slots........it is for donkeys, but with this 1000 buck special they are running, you can lose three hundred and they will send you three hundred of free play in two weeks where your next visit you will have three hundred on your card.......I think after so many plays, you keep your ups and pay for your steak dinner.......pretty sure nobody will be disappointed.
