Piranhas don't have human-looking teeth...their teeth are like razors. And I'm sorry to say, people keep them as aquarium pets...almost last on my list of potential "companions".

Much as I hurts to agree with Floridatexan, he's right this time. And no, they do not have teeth such as in the photo.

I had one in an aquarium for many years when I lived in Miami and worked on a tropical fish farm. I think you may need a permit to keep them now. I think it might have been illegal to import them even back then. (late 50's early 60's) We imported fish from South America and the very young Piranhas were almost indistinguishable from another fish called the Silver Dollar. It was fairly easy to tell them apart in an aquarium but in the field they were almost identical.
