My belief is that "seperation of church and state" was intended to mean that the govt can NOT force or pressure you to choose any particular religion, NOT to mean that any religion is not to be followed, allowed, or in any way discriminated upon..  If we follow the interpretation they are using, WHY do they get Christmas off as a paid holiday???  WHY do some people get paid holidays for other religions, even if they follow a different one??  Do Muslims or others get Christmas off as a paid holiday??

I'll go hungry first instead of denouncing Jesus.

Jesus is a myth. He had many of the same attributes as gods like Horus, Dionysus and Mithra had before him. Nothing new with Jesus.

Nobody asked them to denounce Jesus. Apparently the government official was concerned about hungry people who may not be believers feeling uncomfortable about going to the food kitchen to receive food.

That problem should be resolved, IMO, by not dispensing government provided food through a private religious charity in the first place. All this goes back to Ronald Reagan who thought the government was as evil as some of the posters on this forum think it is and decided to start privatizing services that the government previously provided.

That's always going to cause problems when the private agency starts telling the government how they plan to do it and there's a conflict with government regulations. Way back when free cheese and flour was first given out it was a government give away, not some church doing the job.

I say we should go back to that and eliminate this problem altogether. If your church wants to make points with the poor and hungry, let the members donate the food themselves.

Maybe they're hungry because they don't believe in God.

I'll bet that God has blessed me with more than you have.
I'm loaded, nice new car, pool, loving family......

All you have is hate and jealousy. Good luck with that.

LOL, here's what I think when I hear someone say God has made them wealthy. Watch out for yourself in the afterlife then buddy, because God never promised to reward you with a single thing in this particular life. Jesus never praised the wealthy by saying they were that way because they were so worthy. Just the opposite- he cared about the poor, not so much the rich.

I hope you think you can maneuver your way through that needle's eye when you die. Jesus told the guy that he was speaking to when he brought up how hard it is for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God that he should sell all his goods and give the money to the poor. That guy couldn't do it. I'm betting you wouldn't be willing to either.

If the Bible is fact, heaven is not going to have to worry about an overpopulation problem. Because a lot of people who think they are going there just aren't.

And by the way my friend,  I'm not broke or hungry either.

And my family loves me too.
I even have some friends  who love me.
I don't need a  thing in the world  that I don't have.

Contrary to anything you may have heard.

I could die happy if I died tonight, knowing that the people that I love actually do love me back.
You can keep your swimming pool.
I've got the whole Gulf of Mexico.

I like to tell my conservative Republican friends that Jesus was the world's first true socialist and if they can not follow his way of life they can not be Christians, they usually become furious and then walk away because they can not argue against it.

That's absolutely true Yella. The early Christians lived in communes and shared every single thing they owned.
Bunch of crazy hippies.

Whatever you think you know about me, you really don't. I'm not going to answer questions you  have about an ASSumption you may have made.

Answering questions based on ASSumptions just fortifies the assumption and I rather prefer to deal with reality.
Answering  questions based on  what you may have heard from some other poster who has made the same assumption is even stupider.
And answering questions made on your ASSumption about my character or my family life when all you've done is listen to stories made up by some other person who is also a stranger  to you would be  the stupidest thing of all.

It's is simply  believing one stranger's word  over another.
On an internet forum, of all places.
And that is pretty damned stupid.

Good luck with that getting into heaven stuff. Ain't nobody hungry because God hates them.

I do not think this is what the Founding Fathers had in mind. Sad

The founding fathers never thought poor Americans would need free cheese or flour.
There was an agrarian society back then. People could grow their own food.

Good grief.
Am I being followed around?

If you leave, nobody will follow you. Not even God.

I hope God is not following me around. He'd be awful bored.

I'm not going anywhere.
I wouldn't want you to cry if I left.

Jesus is not a myth, even if you don't believe he is the Son of God. He is an actual historical character. Even Jews, who don't accept his divinity, admit that there was a "rabble rouser" named Jesus who was a great teacher and who caused a lot of concern from the ruling powers when he lived.

I would love to hear your story if you want to share. But no problem if you'd rather not.
