A friend sent a copy of the following comment published in an old Intensedebate.com blog:

"I am 66, and I don't recognize this country anymore. My father's parents were born in 1877 and 1883. If they were alive today, they would think America was insane. I am a Vietnam veteran, and the swarming locust are coming home to feed. You always reap what you sow. Fast forward 10 years, and most cities across America will have a curfew. Fear will be the number one emotion in America. Since the end of World War II, the United States Government has bombed 28 countries. As Martin Luther King Jr. stated on April 4, 1967: " A nation that year after year spends more money on military defense than it does on programs of social uplift is facing spiritual death." Americans are in a political coma, but that is going to change very shortly. You can have health care and education, or bombs and bullets. You can't have both. The cowboy days are coming to an end. It's time to grow up...

Though I was only a little boy when Dwight Eisenhower was President, his parting words are becoming more meaningful with each passing year.

Were those the words from eisenhower that promised a progressive republican party from then on?

"I have just one purpose ... and that is to build up a strong progressive Republican Party in this country. If the right wing wants a fight, they are going to get it ... before I end up, either this Republican Party will reflect progressivism or I won't be with them anymore."

“Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and not clothed.”

I think Ike was the last great Republican president.

Amerika, Inc. has caused more damage to my family and to me than Al Qaeda ever has. I think Slinger is on to something here.

Disclaimer: I'm not talking about the United States of America. I am talking about Amerika, Inc.

Human needs are the basis of power. The state, as I said, is a power structure on a territorial basis, and the state will survive only if it has sufficient ability to satisfy enough of these needs. It is not enough for it to have organized force, and when a politician says, "Elect me President and I will establish law and order," he means organized force or power of other kinds. I won't analyze this level; it's too complex and we don't have time. I will simply say that the object of the political level is to legitimize power: that is, to get people, in their minds, to recognize and accept the actual power relationship in their society.

The problem with America is we do not have enough babies who are hungry, cold, and unclothed.

Especially, black ones.

Joanie and Neko told me so.

Joani didn't tell you a damn thing.

As long as baby-making is a lucrative business,  it will continue. Babies need to be fed, clothed, and kept warm....they also need to be loved, cared for and educated. There is more to parenting than birthing a baby and collecting a check.

Contrary to what Sal wants to think and what he lies about, I care about all babies.

Red and yellow, black and white, they are precious in His sight.  And all babies should be precious in everyone's sight.  My wish would be that all babies are brought into this world under good conditions and good circumstances.  Being born to a poor teenage mom, with no dad in the picture, is not good circumstances for ANY baby of any color.

MLK was correct in his statement except for one glaring wrong word. That word is defense. The word should be OFFENSE. We attack and invade other countries so that Military-Industrial-Complex can thrive and CEOs can become zillionaires selling war materials to our government and also to our enemies.

And the trickle down" provides a few thousand jobs for the workers.
