Caleb Medley and his wife Katie were celebrating her impending delivery when he was shot in the eye. He is in an induced coma. She just gave birth yesterday to baby Hugo. Mother and baby are doing fine.

That's a start. Just this particular victim may cost in the neighborhood of $2 million.

If it does then it will be a shining example of what is wrong with our health system. There aint no damn way fixing a fucked up eye should cost 2 freakin' million dollars !!!

What's a "proche? What's a "mercades?" The cheap car you're referring to is a Yugo.

Note to self: how low does a person have to be to make fun of an innocent baby who's father was shot by a gun-toting maniac on the day of his birth?

Did your mother have any children that lived?

How much did the bionic eye for the 6 million dollar man cost?
They ain't cheap.
Maybe the shooter should donate his organs to the victims. That might help keep the costs down.

This is stupid.. I heard of a guy the other night that hit a million dollars uninsured and the hospital absorbed it and still invites him back to their celebrations of successful critical surgeries.

Hospitals don't simply "absorb" those unpaid medical bills. The costs go up for everyone else that pays. It is more correct to say "people who pay for medical care 'absorbed' the million dollars".

Yes that would be me...Although I don't use medical care..I still pay for the insurance...Stay out of hospitals, that's where the diseases are...

He's in an induced coma, which is normally done when swelling of the brain is present or a danger. I don't know whether the bullet is still in his head or not. He's probably going to have multiple surgeries if the brain swells. Meanwhile, his wife just had a baby YESTERDAY, so it doesn't look like either of them will be back at work any time soon.

But go ahead and make fun, dumbass.

Kind of hard to stay out of hospitals when somebody shoots you with an automatic weapon.

Automatic weapons are what dumbass liberals call rifles.

They don't know no better.

Surely there is a deep-pockets lawyer in Colorado who will find a way to sue the movie theater for $$millions$$ for this disaster. Where is uncle Fred when you need him the most?

Ok, let's nitpick about the kind of weapon. The man is still badly injured and that is the point, isn't it? The shooter had an arsenal and his apartment was booby-trapped in order to kill cops and more people. And you want to argue about the exact type of weapon the young father of a newborn was critically injured with. To prove your manly knowledge of firearms? Have either of you ever fathered a child?

I expect this kind of bullshit from Ghandi, but I thought Gunz was better than that, even though we don't always agree.

2 million dollars is high. My great great great grandfather only paid 60 dollars for a whole person and 2 years later had to let him go. Did the government reimburse him? Noooooooooooo.

Talk about inflation.

I didnt cite the mis- labeling of the weapon type to belittle you granny. I did it because I think in todays climate of people being scared to death of guns that an accurate description of the weapon is needed. There is a huge difference in an automatic weapon and a semi auto in terms of availability, price and kill factor. Same goes for the supposed bullet proof vest which turned out to be a 69 dollar tactical vest.....same one I use when I do my k-9 missions to keep dog supplies in. Also, the AR 15 that the bastard used did not jam, the 100 rnd drum that he had did. If I were going to go postal the drum would be the last thing that I would take as they are heavy and are notorious for causing misfeeds. A good shooter can do a magazine change on an AR in about 2 to 3 seconds.

The movie theater should be paying for this. There should have been alarms on the back door. Thats a fire exit back there.

Im all for charity. I always give to some charity. ALWAYS.

however, this man would recieve his care with or without any charity. Teo is right, the hospital will absorb it. So your charity is going to the hospital. Its still a good deed if you want to do it. But if you want to do something like this, you should do it every day. because every day people go into hospitals with serious conditions that cost alot and the hospitals absorb it.

I donate a monthly amount to St judes Childrens hospital. thats my current place of choice.

Your local hospitals right there in pcola could use some help. They give always millions every year in services. All of them lost millions when tricare was reduced to medicare fee schedule and times are hard with fewer people on private ins there. So if your feeling generous, continue to stay the good person your wanting to be here and donate ALL the time. IMHO
