When a police officer arrived, Smith was holding a gun to Rebello's head, Roach said.
He told the officer he was going to kill Rebello, and then turned the handgun toward the officer, she said.
The officer, fearing for his life, drew his gun and fired, Roach said.
Authorities have not identified the officer.

He could have just been a bad shot. It sounds like a rough situation to be in.

I don't think he was a bad shot. 8 rounds were fired and 7 hit the perp and the one stray struck the victim.

I don't know what else he could have done. Maybe not shot so many times?

A very sad story.
