Poor dummies... We have a baseball park with 100 mil debt. They dont know where the money really is....We damn sure dont need any more Blue Collar idiots around here. We are the Upside of Florida LOL.

FOLEY, Alabama -
All eyes are on Baldwin County and a stretch of land at the corner of County Road 20 and the Foley Beach Express. It's 528-acres of nothing right now, but that will soon change once Blue Collar Country opens in south Baldwin.

"It has a mixture of things actually one of the developers has a background in six flags so it will have that ride component in it," said Jeff Rouzie, the Economic Development Director in Foley.

Rouzie showed News 5 plans today for the future theme park that's described as a mixture between Branson, Missouri nightlight and Six Flags over Georgia.

Familiar names are attached to the project, including those like Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall, Larry The Cable Guy and music legend Tony Orlando.

"Actually these people have been in Baldwin County for two years now looking for a location," said Rouzie.

We spoke to Tony Orlando by phone today who is the mastermind behind Blue Collar County. He tells News 5 he's made about 6 trips to Foley over the years and this particular location was the perfect spot to build this entertainment venue and theme park.

"We've been working on this project for a long time. I'm a big fan of blue collar this is probably one of the most wonderful places to be is in Alabama it felt right Foley showed us the greatest amount of excitement and it's just one of those chemistry's that worked," said Orlando.

Construction should be complete by 2015 on the project.

Nearly 3,000 people will be hired.

At least Ron White isn't part of the project.

None... Unless you live in Escambia county.

More dumbasses. Damn No Baseball stadium
ATMORE, Ala. -
One of Southwest Alabama's largest employers is expanding.

Windcreek Casino in Atmore will open a new, entertainment complex this summer.

The facility will employ hundreds of workers.

The complex will house a movie theater, bowling alley, shops, restaurants and possibly a convention center.

Mayor Jim Staff believes Atmore will become a major, entertainment district.

Staff is also counting on Airbus in Mobile to bring suppliers and commuters to Atmore.

None, if you like to work out of state. Of course the fact that our area( Escambia co) can not do shit except to build crap like Stooderville. We should be glad to get the crumbs from someones else hard work and positive thinking.

HG,
You understand that the State of Alabama takes the lead on economic development. The folks in Foley had nothing to do with this.....the incentives all originate from the state........now for some reason you keep blaming the County and the City, but I have never heard you say a word about the State of Florida.......the ball is being dropped.....not by local counties and cities......the State does a terrible job for NW Florida.

Also, do you realize that folks throughout the central US will be making a fifty mile area around this park a destination vacation. Can you not see the huge economic spillover for Escambia County? Will you finally get behind the expansion of the stadium capacity which I have argued for four years? What a boom for the area.

Alabama people are smart. They hire their own people first. Look at the inpact it will have on their tax system. They still have state Income tax(5%) last time I worked there. They will hire some Florida people and some of our guys will get a small piece of the action but they cover their bases very very good as well they should. Just another failure of our crime ridden. poverty stricken area. Escambia co citizens can not see it, but everyone else does. they want no part of our mess.

Maybe so ...

... you definitely had a point regarding the taxpayers footing the bill ...

... but bringing more tourists into the region can only help, it can't hurt ...

... right??

It will help. We can get cleaning jobs like we do for the condos in Orange beach, We can even be able to ride over and enjoy the place. They will be glad to take our money. Of course a few will wander over to the fish House and check out Stooderville. But to people like me and my family it will not do a damn thing. If Stooderville maxes out at 20,000 per game it makes no difference to me. The Kids in my area will still walk to school with out proper sides walks and go to sub standard schools.. There is a reason that Escambia co is one of the poorest county in the STATE of Florida. We have heard this line of shit for years. Same song, different verse.

HG,

Will never admit the success, he thinks the taxpayers have a liability. A library with no revenue source which spends 5 million a year to stockpile books which have not been checked out in years is a liability. However, a civilized society takes on liabilities in schools, libraries, and parks so that the quality of life improves and the citizens are productive. This park was paid for with bond money......almost all the bond payments will come from private party funds in the form of lease and ticket surcharges. A simple 2 buck a ticket keeps this park from having one red cent of taxpayer money. They of course have not taken that course because they have five years to build out the park before the escalation of bond repayments and a problem develops. HG only looks at Mr. Studer, the rest is non consequential to the rational portion of his brain.

As in most things, Seaoat, time will tell. The first year time told us we are woefully short on the paying of bills.

Agreed in part, but I do not think they fell woefully short of paying of bills. The outdoor theater took on a 500k extra liability, and that note was not paid in the time frame. I am unaware of last year one taxpayer dime being spent on the bonds.......Please help me on this because I simply am using memory from PNJ articles......they had funds left over to cover the bond payments the first year. They will build out close to 500 k more lease revenue and the problem goes away completely, but all the projected shortfalls in my understanding were around 600k if nothing builds out in the next 5 years.......but the bond was front loaded just for that contingency, and they have five years to get the build out, or increase the surcharge two bucks a ticket out through the bonds life.....no brainer.

OK Mr Oats Tell me what to expect as the Studerville soars to record profits?
Two years are coming up on the park and it is still mired in controversy and lack of direction. (ref the YMCA). No one has applied your magic 2 dollar surcharge(I guess they are just too stupid to figure it out) and the bills are mounting. How does this effect my house in Lakewood? The sheriff is screaming for 90 million a 18 mil increase, and there was a murder (Not the first) not a mile away from my house. Why would not I be pissed? i will post photos the sidewalks and dirt the children in my area have to use to go to school while downtown wallows in trendy pavers. Mad? Damn right I am.

Think about your questions. 15 million for more guards and squads......300k to 600k potential shortfall to get a fully paid park in 30 years. You are paying the taxes. You tell me where the problem is........in one year the sheriff is asking for the entire amount of what the shortfalls would be for 30 years of no buildout, and no surcharge......you tell me where the problem is.....you are a very smart man......we both know where the problem is, and it has nothing to do with this park.

I know the Sheriff is full of crap. They can not even do the job at hand. I also know that Suderville will do nothing for me. Yes, I will pay for damn park, a product of someone's dreams(or nightmare) forced on us. Studer has said that people have spit on him while he was dinning. I am mad but not that mad. I am not the lone voice in this matter. Just the most vocal.

I know the Sheriff is full of crap.

I disagree. I think he has done a great job. However, until laws are changed, he is going to have the streets full of people who are violating their court orders, and not meeting the requirements of their probation. The issue of the criminal justice system must start from the top down......we need to surrender the drug war.....we need to craft a clever peace where taxes can be collected from drugs like alcohol. We live in poverty and petty crime, and actually violent crime non drug related has fallen since the 70s.

Right They are doing a great job. My bad. You have amazing insight being you dont live any where near where I do. You get your information from what you read. I see the shit every day. Yet, you dare call me out. You and your kind are part of the problem. People who dont even live any where near the issue yet you think you have the answers. You dont, Not even close.......
