Sorry, but on this one we disagree. After the Olympics bombing, it was drilled into us by police at events about unattended bags. I have been in airports all over the United States where after Atlanta I would hear a looped tape warning people to report any unattended bags. The Israelis train their people on what they should do with an unattended bag. They immediately announce the same and have people back off. This is training and policy. Our policy over the last 30 years is to increase our criminal justice system by 500% mostly because of the war on drugs and the war on terrorism, but there are better policies which do not require a standing army in this country.

I went and got a hot dog in Atlanta airport around 2003 and an airline personnel approached me and asked me if my computer bag was mine. This was a very hot topic.........did the people fall asleep, or did all the people standing around fall asleep.........where were the announcements which I have heard a decade ago.......but we had thousands of police cars filling the streets........we had honest citizens under gun point being taken from their homes.....while a boogeyman simply walked away.....not even with a gun............no this is policy failure.......it is a huge fail, but nobody is asking questions because the Bobs of this world who hate Muslims have their answers.

I was no English major.......

However, I didn't know there were 5 factors that gave the bombers apprehension about committing such an ignoble act.

Do you not think World War 2 was a war against the Germans and the Japanese?

The "war on terror" resulted from the events of 9/11. The 9/11 perps were muslims. It's not just a coincidence that they just happened to be muslims. Their own perception of their muslim religion played a big role in inspiring them to commit their acts.

But of course their religion was not their only motivator. I have written countless posts here to convey my feelings about that.
I am fully convinced that the middle east foreign policy of the American government over the past 60 years also contributed to it.

Do you really think this reaction to the bombing was professional and timely?

I don't know enough about that to answer that question. I've never claimed I did.

I was not aware that the authorities knew the two suspects were muslims when they made the decision to "put Boston under house arrest". What I recall is that no one knew it was muslims who had done this until the suspects were identified. I remember at the time "Boston was put under house arrest", the officials and the public were still engaged in speculation about who had done this and why. And that speculation included home-grown terrorists who had domestic motives as well as muslim terrorists.

Robert....Robert......Robert......you have already acknowledged they had their car........do I have to draw a picture.........I used to color by numbers.......I would take this long shot......that they had the license plate, and car ownership in the database and had an answer within three minutes as to their immigration status, criminal records, and yes ethnicity........and maybe....and FBI agent woke up from his deep slumber and connected the dots.......now what do you think followed......Boston was put under arrest.
