Does performance often match up with expectations? It seems as if there are a lot of OMG's when actual numbers of something or other come out. As in I'm thinking whoever it is making the predictions/expectations don't have a very good track record yet everyone keeps using them as a benchmark.

The actual number is usually somewhere in the consensus range. This was a big miss: consensus range was 170,000 to 230,000.

The economy looks good if you have a job. If you don't, it looks terrible.
