I agree that Saddam was a tyrant. Glad he's not around anymore.
But the WMDs claim turned out to be false. They never found any WMDs in Iraq when the U.S. invaded the country in 2003.

The WMDs that Iraq used to have were furnished by the U.S. in the 80's to help Iraq win the war with Iran. Saddam ended up using them on the Kurds.

I don't see Iraqis having many liberties when they have bombs going off all of the time killing more innocent people.

The Iraq war has cost too many lives and billions of dollars that could have been used to shore up our economy, transportation infrastructure, homeland security, health care, poverty, military training etc. That money should have been spent on Americans for Americans, not for Iraqis.


Sadam was a tyrant to his own people, kept terrorist out of his country also, but they are there now. Who are we to tell someone how to run their own country when it is not hurting anyone on our soil? This country gives too much money away overseas and does not take care of their own. I agree, reaper. The invasion of Iraq by the U.S. government opened the door for Al Qaeda to begin terrorist activity there. We have no right to tell Iraq how to run their country any more than Iraq has the right to tell us how to run ours. We do need to take care of our own. Americans have been neglected for far too long. Look at our transportation infrastructure, just as an example. It's in shambles. And what about the Native Americans, the most neglected group of people who need dire help. Many of them live in squalor.

Yes, I have ridden through the Mississippi Delta region. In fact, I did it for the first time back in May when I rode an Amtrak train from Memphis to New Orleans. All I saw was farmland and run down houses. I did not see any evidence of prosperity in the towns we stopped. It was really sad. I have read that it is one of the poorest regions in the entire United States.
