Oddly enough, I watched Nosferatu just last night (for probably the 100th time). Murnau was a frickin' genius.

Ever see this? Defoe received a supporting actor nomination.

Oh yeah, that was a good one.  It's been a few years... I probably need to watch it again.  I also need to watch Sunrise again.  I'm so baglogged, movie-wise... Smile

Are you a big fan of silent movies? To be honest I'm not that big a fan but the last one I paid attention to was The Passion of Joan of Arc-1928. Very moving. I like City Lights so I decided to post it.

Yep, I love silents. I don't watch 'em as much as I should because I tend to get borderline-narcoleptic watching movies as is, but I've still seen a lot of 'em. I watched The Golem a week or two ago. A friend of mine recently watched The Big Parade and said it was the best thing he'd seen in years. City Lights is a masterpiece, although I kinda fluctuate on whether I like it better, or Modern Times. All Chaplin is great. I'm a pretty hardcore movie freak... I watch everything from grindhouse splatter to noir to silents to... damn near everything except musicals, really. Smile This weekend I watched Just Before Dawn (old slasher-in-the-woods flick), a Hopalong Cassidy movie, and Lawrence of Arabia. My tastes are kinda schizophrenic. Smile

This is one of my favorites from the silent era.

I love all movies except for porn. Once you've seen one, you've seen them all. I love musicals too. Loved "Hamilton" but thought "In The Heights" was flat. Never was a big fan of "Cats" so I don't care that it tanked at the box office. Big fan of "Sweeney Todd" "Les Miserables" and "Into The Woods." Reviews say "Dear Evan Hanson" is a bomb. Looking forward to Speilberg's remake of "West Side Story."and The Beatles "Let It Be" update. Here is one of my early talky favorites, "Love Me Tonight." It's funny too. Great cast. Like how the Isn't It Romantic number starts off with Maurice Chevalier, gets passed along to other characters and ends up miles away with lonely young widow Jeanette MacDonald. Check out the video shorts after the film.

I like Sweeney Todd, but the old-school one, before they made it into a musical. Smile

Tod Slaughter never gets the respect he deserves. Dude was a terrible ham... but he was the best at it! Smile

I wonder if Vincent Price was a fan of Todd's.
