President Trump's choice for a new CIA director, Gina Haspel, would be the first woman to run the fabled spy agency, but her confirmation hearings may focus less on her breaking a glass ceiling than on her role in the CIA torture of terrorism suspects more than a decade ago.

If confirmed, she would replace Mike Pompeo in a dramatic reshuffling of top national security and foreign policy positions in the Trump administration. Trump is shifting Pompeo to replace Rex Tillerson as secretary of State.

And the House Intelligence Committee just ended their investigation of Russian collusion with Trump during the election.

"THE HOUSE INTELLIGENCE COMMITTEE HAS, AFTER A 14 MONTH LONG IN-DEPTH INVESTIGATION, FOUND NO EVIDENCE OF COLLUSION OR COORDINATION BETWEEN THE TRUMP CAMPAIGN AND RUSSIA TO INFLUENCE THE 2016 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION," Trump wrote in an exuberant tweet on Monday night.

Poor bet. Woulda thought you'd realize that even this moronic president knows firing Sessions would be a risk, a possible addition to whatever other evidence may be gathered for an obstruction of justice charge.

As for Gina Haspel, POTUS basically had no choice but to appoint the existing deputy director, or else face further accusations of misogyny to complement the most recent accusations of marital unfaithfulness.

The look on Rex's face at the Boy Scout event said it all......well until he actually said it.......fricking moron.

The issue is why did Trump need to cut the cord with Rex and the State Department.....well as a Russian agent, you certainly do not want any experts in the room. Played like a fiddle, and then he is going to tell us what a great deal America made......all that knowledge at state has been isolated from American foreign policy......insanity. Alex Jones chit........twilight zone, but in the end, we really need to revisit executive powers and the role of the Senate in guiding foreign policy, but right now a chipmunk could be elected President and there is not a damn thing sane people can do about it. Intellect and talent no longer matter in this fascist anti intellectual Putin World.

I think the last straw was Tillerson's having come out in vocal support of the UK's condemnation of Russia for the apparent attempted chemical murder of the latter's former spy. Tillerson wanted the U.S. to make a strong position statement supporting the UK on this, and obviously Trump refused, taking instead an appallingly neutral stance (SURPRISE) rather than supporting our strong ally.

IMHO Tillerson redeemed himself with that move in terms of his relationship with Russia, and Trump couldn't stand yet one more "betrayal," especially following on Tillerson's contrary positions on both the North Korea meet-up and the trashing of the Iran deal.

POTUS says he and Pompeo are in sync. Heaven help us all.
