Are republicans Born Liars?

Case in point Lying Ted Cruz.

In my personal experience, a lot of them don't mean to be liars, but they tend to be a personality type that's prone to believing bullshit. They're not good at logic at all, and tend to take everything literally. It's gotten so that I can usually predict somebody's politics even if I've never talked politics with them, just by watching how they react to things. If they're reactionary and gullible, they're almost always conservative. Doesn't always mean they're a bad person, but they just get spooked by things easily. At work I am forever having to debunk little waves of panic when Republican co-workers get ridiculous urban legends in their e-mail. Whenever there's a virus phishing attempt (like "your Paypal account is being suspended!" or "We are in Iran and caught you looking at porn -- send us $350 in Bitcoin or we'll email video we took of you to everyone in your mailbox!" or the good ol' Nigerian prince who has a business deal for 'em) they fall for it. We actually ended up having to take a "class" on it because it got so rampant... and a lot of 'em still don't dope it out.

Their politicians lie like crazy. Their news media feeds them absolute bullshit ("Release the memo!" ) and they fall for it. Honestly, I think a lot of it comes from being raised in church. You get somebody believing stuff like a talking snake led to the fall of man 6,000 years ago and something like trickle-down economics is an easy scam to sell.

Their politicians and news lie because they know they'll get away with it. The voters aren't all liars... but they do tend to be people who don't understand what truth is. They think if you want to believe something hard enough, then they can make it true. Lotsa magical thinking going on. I've run into some liberal types like that, too, although they tend to be much more cynical... which is a good thing. Democratic politicians also lie, but they're much more liable to get called on it. And I see a lot more fact-checking of the media going on on Democratic websites than I do on conservative ones. If you're on Free Republic or Redstate, if FOX News reported it then it might as well have been handed down from the Good Lord Himself.
