In recent days, I’ve spoken with a half dozen prominent Republicans and Trump advisers, and they all describe a White House in crisis as advisers struggle to contain a president that seems to be increasingly unfocused and consumed by dark moods.

BY GABRIEL SHERMAN
OCTOBER 11, 2017 2:40 PM

"At first it sounded like hyperbole, the escalation of a Twitter war. But now it’s clear that Bob Corker’s remarkable New York Times interview—in which the Republican senator described the White House as “adult day care” and warned Trump could start World War III—was an inflection point in the Trump presidency. It brought into the open what several people close to the president have recently told me in private: that Trump is “unstable,” “losing a step,” and “unraveling.”..."

(plus 40-minute interview with Preet Bharara and Sally Yates)

I so hope this is all true and that normal Republicans will summon the nerve to get this fool out of the White House. Unfortunately we have seen a stream of incidents during the campaign and after he took office that would have caused any other president to be impeached. Maybe this really, really is the approach of the "last straw" moment.

This situation is parallel to having a delinquent fourth grader flying a jumbo jet with no experience or knowledge of what the controls are for. This is insanity, and dangerous and embarrassing.

His cabinet could remove him from office. I doubt they will, since they are all hand picked, but I think it's more likely than an impeachment at this point.
He's not mentally fit to be POTUS and is a danger to this country.

I believe that if Mueller is aware of the decline In the President, and he has a prima facia case of obstruction of Justice.....the time might be ripe for this nation to unite. This man could kill millions over his personality defects. Prosecute and impeach without delay.

My personal guess has been that he'll be out of office by this Thanksgiving. I don't know where I hit on that date. Perhaps it is wishful thinking but it sounds good to me.

This evening on TV there was talk of some kind of intervention to remove him, otherwise we are just biding our time with fingers crossed hoping he doesn't do something catastrophically stupid.

Republicans are keeping their mouths shut and their heads down in the hopes they can get tax "reform" done before the 2018 avalanche.

Just watch this, with leaked audio, from 1991:

Trump is a dangerous mental case. Can anyone here remember an instance when the WH chief of staff had to speak to the press and assure them basically that the President is just fine mentally? Kelly went public yesterday in the press briefing room and did just that. You know, when that seems to be required it sort of sends the opposite message.

I've got the TV on mute. Donald is talking, gesturing. It is a waste of time to listen. Either he will pull a 180 in the next few days re whatever it is he's running on about or he is speaking from an utter lack of understanding/knowledge of the topic, again a waste of time.

He's proving to be not just mentally ill... he's also a gobsmack-level super-idiot.

Trump thinks that the stock market pays off the national debt.

Now I understand how Trump managed to bankrupt casinos.  He's an imbecile who doesn't understand even basic things about the economy.  It's like, "My car will get better gas mileage now that I repainted the garage."  It is adorable that conservatives finally discovered the stock market and the jobs numbers as soon as Trump got elected, but, jeez.

He also doesn't appear to know that Puerto Ricans are Americans.  He also thinks "clean coal" means that they wash it before they use it.

It goes on and on.  Every day, ten new dumb things.

The problem is, his supporters are even dumber, so they don't know he's an idiot.  There's cancer in the system and they're going to fight us to cut it out because "noooo, we like the tumor, give it time and it'll do something good!"  They still think the media's why people think Trump's incompetent.  I could watch this guy, without any editing or commentary from anyone, and come to the same conclusion, but they like to pretend it's just a "media narrative" because that helps them avoid the truth.

I'm not sure North Korea even has to bomb us.   If they'll just be patient, Trump will collapse the country under the weight of his incompetence.

Can I finish one "Donald Trump is a moron" post before he does something else profoundly stupid? No. Not even.

Trump says he talked to "the president of the Virgin Islands"... which is a U.S. territory, so he's the president of the Virgin Islands.

Trump still thinks Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands are foreign countries. That's part of why he doesn't give a damn about helping 'em and complains about Puerto Rico's economy (after he stiffed them for millions on a golf course deal, which takes the kind of sociopathic chutzpah I can't even contemplate).

"Make America Great Again," like hell. "MALS" - Make America Look Stupid. Fit that on a hat and tell the truth for once.

I get that Republicans hated Hillary -- they were trained for years to that effect -- but that's still no excuse for picking a complete imbecile, moral degenerate, and lunatic out of everyone in your primary! It wasn't a great field, but Jesus Christ, the only one as bad as Trump was Cruz.

Other countries are watching this, and the only thing that's saving America from looking like a total hateful-idiot nation is that Trump's got low poll numbers and gets mocked and protested regularly. We're still going to be the laughing stock, though. One of America's greatest strengths was her reputation, and 19% of the country just whizzed all over it with that vote.

It will be years, if not decades, before our credibility and reputation are restored. It may never happen, Trump may have destroyed forever America's position as primus inter pares, first among equals, in the free world.
