I didn't put a lot of stock in them because they were unsubstantiated, and there was more than enough stuff that was backed up by hard evidence to not need to heed rumors much... but, so far, his behavior is supporting 'em.
He's undermining his own generals with tweets, and now this posturing.
Trump is a weak man who desperately wants to be seen as a "tough guy," so this is his way of flexing those Jello-like muscles. He has no clue what he's doing, and he doesn't care... as always, it's not about the country, it's about him. Nothing else is even real to him. If nations burn, so what? As long as the dwindling 30-some percent are impressed with him, and his bloated picture is on the page of the world's newspapers, that's all he cares about. He wants to kill off millions. He thinks people will cheer him and think he's a badass.
It's completely unconscionable, and incredibly ill-advised, but, that's what he does. The generals are the only thing holding the government together at this point. America's in a crisis situation with this loon at the helm, but is too distracted and in denial to face the magnitude of it.
They really need to just send him off to the golf course and take his Twitter away from him, get him out of the loop so grown-ups can handle the situation. Unfortunately, though, he hasn't hired enough of those, and he's fighting with the few that he has. We're the United States Of One Damage Case's Ego now.

You nailed it totally. The man is a fool. Again I say he does not realize that he is president, that what he says matters beyond himself. He thinks he is playing the president on some reality show, still pitching for ratings, which are plummeting. We can only hope that the generals and a few sane politicians would somehow isolate him and his insanity before he could do something catastrophic.
I am sickened over the effect he is having on the office and on the country.
