Washington (CNN)The US military dropped America's most powerful non-nuclear bomb on ISIS targets in Afghanistan Thursday, the first time this type of weapon has been used in battle, according to US officials.

A GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast Bomb (MOAB), nicknamed the "mother of all bombs," was dropped at 7:32 pm local time, according to four US military officials with direct knowledge of the mission. A MOAB is a 21,600-pound, GPS-guided munition.
The bomb was dropped by an MC-130 aircraft, stationed in Afghanistan and operated by Air Force Special Operations Command, Pentagon spokesman Adam Stump told CNN.

This must mean we're getting closer to exposing the 45/Russian ties? The closer to that we get, the bigger the bomb/shiny object?

A super-bomb capable of creating 10,000 new jihadists in a single blast!

Yep 109 million of our tax dollar's in the past week. I wonder if this is going to be an every Thursday event or just when trump throws a dart at the world map. I wonder how many ISIS he killed with the MOAB? Won't be able to fund nothing when he's done.

The U.S. dropped an average of 72 bombs every day — the equivalent of three an hour — in 2016, according to an analysis of American strikes around the world.

The report from the Council of Foreign Relations comes as Barack Obama finishes up his presidency — one that began with promises to withdraw from international conflicts.

According to the New York City-based think tank, 26,171 bombs were dropped on Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Libya, Yemen, Somalia and Pakistan during the year.

CFR warned that its estimates were "undoubtedly low, considering reliable data is only available for airstrikes in Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia, and Libya, and a single 'strike,' according to the Pentagon's definition, can involve multiple bombs or munitions."

Some 24,287 bombs were used in Iraq and Syria, where the U.S. is helping drive ISIS militants from swaths of both countries. In 2015, the U.S. dropped 22,110 bombs in Iraq and Syria, CFR reported.

Last year saw a sharp uptick in strikes in Afghanistan, with 1,337 compared with 947 in 2015, CFR found.

The study, which drew data from a variety of military and press sources, showed that three bombs were dropped on Pakistan during 2016, 14 in Somalia and 34 in Yemen.

Obama had the opportunity and didn't do it....to busy changing ROE, I suppose.
This bomb took out a 1 mile area of tunnels.

Anyone in the tunnels would be a fatality.  In others words,  none off those in those tunnel dwellers wil ever kill an American.

Those fatalities, and all the innocent civilians who have died from our bombs begin with the premise that we are killing people to preempt the killing of Americans, but the truth is that since the day after 911 we have not lost more than the number of people who die from bee stings. Could you imagine killing hundreds of thousands of people because folks died from bee stings. It is time to stop the charade. This has very little to do with protecting Americans, and it has everything to do with the profits of war.

This is so dumb I can't believe it was written by an adult.

It's not just Americans these Islamist terrorist organizations are killing, it's anyone who does not subscribe to their crazy ideology. The list of outrages they have committed is mind-boggling starting with the Lebanon Marine barracks bombing in '83. Khobar Towers, first World Trade Center, 9/11, Charlie Hebdo, 7/7 in the UK, airline hijackings and bombings galore, Lahore and Kampala in 2010, Baghdad in 2016 with 300 dead and many more injured. And those are just the biggest ones.

They behead people as a public spectacle, they burn captives in cages, they beat and stone women who don't dress the way they demand. They machine gun children.

There's scores of these organizations: Al Qaeda, Hamas, The Muslim Brotherhood, ISIS, the Taliban and so on. Every area they take over turns into a brutish sectarian hell. In every case they behave like demented savages.

It's easy for you to sit on the sidelines and preach but exactly what do you suggest the civilized nations do?

The world will be a better place when every one of these damn Islamist fundamentalists is dead or locked away. They are a bloody stain on the history of civilization.

Thirty Americans die of an overdose every day, ninety die from a gun, and less than fifty people a year die from some kind of terrorist action. The vast majority of those attacks are lone wolves who have NO direct connection with any terrorist network, but are emotionally moved for revenge on our bombings in the middle east where we have killed hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians under the guise that we are doing the same to protect fifty Americans who are killed by criminals each year. 5 trillion dollars given to MIC to feed their bottom line and profit while children die. There is no ambiguity. There is no uncertainty. There is NO war on terrorism. There is only subsidy for MIC and murder of innocents. The prosecution of criminals requires those nation states to charge and punish their criminals, it never was America's role to be a killing machine of innocents. It may be the dumbest thing you have ever read(you evidently do not read your posts.......the defense rests your honor), but this big illusion which transcends who is President must stop.

So I guess if it's okay to say that Bush kept Americans safe then it's okay to say that Obama kept Americans safer. How safe will Americans be with false flag#45 in the White House?

Yep, we took out a whopping 36 ISIS just reported on the news.

If the Islamist areas so benign, why is Europe dealing with a refugee crisis that's worse than post-WWII? The refugees are all from Islamic states that have been hijacked by Islamist fundamentalists. The ordinary citizens are risking life daily to get the hell out of those nightmare societies. Islamic fundamentalism HATES modernity, progress and the ease and comfort contemporary western societies enjoy.

And it's not mostly lone wolves who perpetrate these outrages against humanity.

It's not lone wolves who burn captives alive in cages.

It's not lone wolves who cut down scores of women and children for the sin of SHOPPING!

It's not lone wolves who behead multiple innocent civilians in huge public rallies.

It's not lone wolves who've committed so many hijackings that air travel is an ordeal of check-points and searches to even enter an air terminal.

It's not lone wolves who build the explosive vests for suicide bombers.

It's not lone wolves who convince children to wear those vests with promises of a paradise in the afterlife and then videotape their last wishes before they send them off.

It's wasn't a lone wolf who organized the bombings at two US embassies in Africa on the same day.

It's wasn't lone wolves who built a shaped charge into the bow of a small boat and drove it into an American ship.

It wasn't a lone wolf who killed hundreds of innocent civilians in Nigeria and then burned children alive on the same day for the crime of believing differently.

It wasn't a lone wolf who seized 20 hostages and held them for over a year in the Philippines.

It wasn't a lone wolf who kidnapped and video taped the  beheading of Daniel Pearl then cut his body into pieces and left it on the side of a road.

It wasn't a lone wolf who stole a natural gas truck in Tunisia then rigged it with explosives and used it to blow up a synagogue.

It wasn't a lone wolf who organized the Bali bombings in Indonesia that killed 200 people.

Are you beginning to get the idea? I'm only up to 2002. The list goes on for another 15 years! And these are just the most notable outrages against humanity--there's hundreds more smaller killings and bombings that barely registered on the American news.

Islamist fundamentalism is a threat to the western way of life. They HATE us, with our Iphones and laptops, our liberal tolerance and material prosperity, our civil societies and democratic governance. They hate us and want to destroy the way of life we enjoy.

Yippee! That means 36 that will never kill an American. Of course that means countless family members and comrades of the 36 who will vow vengeance on the children and grandchildren of those that cheered about the death of the 36., and so it goes.

Isis in Syria took teenage males by force. They then sent them to Iraq to fight. These kids died. They never volunteered for ISIS. They had no choice. If they faltered at any time they are executed. Yet, we take pride in killing 36 by another cowardly bomb. We are the terrorist. We have killed more civilians than ISIS. The Russians backing the Syrian tyrant have killed more civilians than ISIS. ISIS was created by financial support from Saudi Arabia and Israel to cause a civil war in Iraq to stop the shia and Iranian influence. They quickly supported the destruction of the nation state of Syria and Iranian support. Some are blind. However, this idea that dropping bombs protects Americans in America from criminals. It is so illogical and obvious that nation state war has all but been eliminated, so for MIC to continue to profit we needed to create a war on terrorism. A person would have to be a drunkard or fool to buy into this idea we are making Americans safe by bombing in the middle east with military line of command. I get the CIA gathering intelligence and targeting known operations which present a threat to Americans, but we are killing teenagers forced into ISIS whose poor souls have been caught up in this MIC evil design which perpetuates profit. Stop it. Challenge anybody who wants to increase military spending. Support and contribute to anyone who wants to cut the military budget. We are the world's tyrants, who share that designation with the Russians. We are evil. We kill Children and innocents, and the worse part, we try to justify these murders. There is no justification.

Pope Tawadros II had been in one of the two churches targeted on Palm Sunday when 45 people were killed in attacks claimed by so-called Islamic State.

Security has been tightened at churches across Egypt and Easter celebrations have been scaled back.

Both suicide bombers were Egyptians, the government said.
A three-month state of emergency was imposed following the bombings in Alexandria and the Nile Delta city of Tanta.

The attacks on Christians, who make up about 10% of Egypt's population, raised security fears ahead of a visit to Cairo by Pope Francis, the head of the Roman Catholic Church, scheduled for 28 and 29 April.

So when do he start bombing Egypt?

The concept that we bomb ideas to win an imaginary war on terror is such a distortion of reality that it is hopeless for low iq folks to understand. These are criminal acts. They require criminal justice responses in every country in the world, but the idea that we can bomb ideas away is stupid. It always has been stupid, but more importantly it is cowardly.......we have become cowardly murderers all under the patently false concept that the military can declare war on ideas. That is exactly where we are and at some point brave people will simply say enough.

And exactly how do you propose to administer a criminal justice response to the Taliban in Afghanistan or ISIS in Iraq and Syria? Get arrest warrants from the appropriate court system then have a SWAT team go in and arrest the perps!

Please, 2seaoat, use some common sense. And throttle back on the Molly or Vitamin K or whatever you're taking--you're getting a little goofy.

The mind reels.
