For a person with zero experience in government he certainly is full of himself. Confidence is something he certainly has no lack of. Companies are advising their employees not to leave the country if they think they might have trouble re-entering; former Iraqi translator and family held up at JFK; Iran issuing a reciprocal travel ban on U.S. citizens; lawsuits against the executive signing have been filed; people are demonstrating against this order at JFK.

All the frenetic activity last week made it look as if he was getting a lot done when in fact it remains to be seen what the fallout from some of these signings may be. Some, I don't think are any more than a wish list with no force of law, no funding of course. He continues to create problems where none exist.

There is a learning curve. Every President will admit the same. In one hundred days we will have a better idea. From now until June his failures and success will mostly be on President Obama. After June, it will be his baby. The idea a new President is completely responsible for where we are is absurd. The man needs to be given a chance, and I certainly am not optimistic.

I patently REJECT that notion. B.S.!!!! He wanted this responsibility, let him TAKE IT! The blame or credit is entirely his as of his swearing in.

Yet obama and his lackeys blamed bush for any and everything for eight full years... without recourse.

I wish we could stick to one set of standards... you can't have it every which way.

As for overarching economic conditions like the financial collapse of 2008-09 I agree it would not have been fair to blame President Obama for something that took years to develop and many to clean up.

But what has President Obama got to do with the executive orders Trump has so cavalierly signed this past week? The demonstrations at JFK and all the people Trump has insulted by his misguided actions is completely on him. Trump has targeted people and countries that have not been the source of any domestic acts of terror as far as I know. Our recent explosions have been at the hands of home grown folks. None of the 9-11 hijackers were even from the seven countries named in his order.

I had my hopes (very briefly) in the group of advisors he has but either they weren't asked about the fallout of this travel freeze or if asked were not listened to. He has embarrassed this country by this signing and I don't think it will be the last time either.

Yes there is a learning curve but when he has the attitude that "I'm a smart person" and that apparently total lack of experience does not matter...I can only hope that he takes this as a learning experience and does not act so brashly from here on out.

It takes at least six months for a president to impact America. Yes, and executive order has an immediate impact, but using that standard allowed folks to blame the President Obama for the economic failures of President Bush and the tremendous debt which America had to accrue in President Obama's second month in office. No it will take until June to start judging President Trump. Yes, the executive orders have been bad policy, but the winners get to play the game by their rules.

Lots of those executive orders pertain to the overbearing business regs Obama put into place.

You are mistaken if you think that the folks/countries he has banned from immediate immigration with no vetting don't have hostile intentions. They are coming from HOtBEDS of ISIS recruitment and jihadist doctrine.

A Federal Judge Just Issued A Stay Against Donald Trump's "Muslim Ban"

A federal judge in Brooklyn just issued an emergency stay against Donald Trump's executive order banning immigration from certain predominantly Muslim countries, temporarily allowing people who have landed in the US with a valid visa to remain.

The historic ruling—a stunning first defeat for President Donald Trump coming at the end of his first week in office—protects anyone with a valid visa who arrived after the executive order (or were en route when the ruling was filed) from deportation under Trump’s order.

The stay, granted by Judge Ann M. Donnelly of the US District Court, is temporary and a court will have to decide whether to make it permanent at a later date—and it only affects people who have already arrived in the United States or are currently in transit—but for now, people will not be deported because of Trump's executive order:

NOT temporarily halting immigration from countries with great turmoil while the problem is assessed and fixed is like having a huge plumbing leak and telling the plumber you want it fixed quickly...but...he can't turn off the water while he makes the repairs.

Simply stupid.

A judge has blocked the federal government from deporting citizens of seven countries who were detained at U.S. airports over the past day or so as a result of an executive order President Donald Trump issued Friday.
Advocates said 100-200 travelers from those Muslim-majority countries were being held at various around the U.S. as a result of Trump's order, which was billed as an anti-terrorism measure. The detentions sparked protests outside at many international airports, including JFK Airport in New York and Dulles Airport outside Washington.
U.S. District Court Judge Ann Donnelly issued the order over the government's objection following an emergency hearing in Brooklyn, N.Y. Saturday night. She acted on a legal challenge filed by several immigrant rights' groups.
The judge's order does not require the immediate release of anyone being kept in custody after arrival into the U.S., but bars immigration officials from deporting those individuals, at least for now.

Syrian Christian family, visas in hand, turned back at airport

This family had relatives who were naturalized U.S. citizens waiting for them at the airport, and they were told to book a flight back to where they came from.

Hear, hear, othershoe!  Well stated and right on the mark as usual.   I would not, however, recommend holding your breath as to your hopes expressed in closing.

Please read othershoe's wise post on this question.

I am not even thinking about the economy right now, which, yes, of course, does take some time to swing.  Trump's onerous executive orders have grabbed all the attention and sparked all the alarm, all on their own, and they are entirely on him.  And to even imply that these orders haven't "impacted America" and won't for six months is absurd, and gives the lie to even your own thread, "heartbroken."  I DO judge Trump right now, and so do you.

I swear, sea, your vacillations are sometimes as hard to follow as a tennis ball.

Wow...there is hope for you.  Even you are accepting the fact that the economy has been in the dumps for the past eight years.  Thank you!

Please share with us specifically which of President Trumps executive orders are onerous.  Not just because he is keeping his word and that really sticks in your craw.

President Trump's popularity is increasing and the stock market continues to increase.  If you recall, the Socialist guru of the far left, Paul Krugman made a forecast about the market in line with most others.  Around midnight or a little after he laid down a bitter rant that the market would NEVER recover from the crash it was going to suffer because of the election of President Trump.

I think President Trump has made some terrible choices and implemented horrible policy, but again, to simply judge the new President without the context of the previous administration is wrong. The current countries which were chosen actually were the same in which the Obama administration had singled out and increased the vetting process. I disagree with the ban, but those nations were selected by the Obama administration. When President Obama was blamed for budget busting stimulus which generated debt, it was President Bush who had caused the same, and when I pointed this out I was told just like your argument that I was wrong. I have not flip flopped, but it takes about six months for this to be President Trump's baby. The start of that process in my opinion has been appalling.

Ignorant cartoon. At Ellis Island we vetted the crap out of immigrants. They had to speak English, had to have a job skill, had to be disease free etc,
