60-Minutes Report on Chicago Street Violence...and it is Outrageous.

One interview was with Father Flager, a close friend, and associate of the Rev. Jerimiah Wright.  If possible, Flager is as racist as is the Rev. Wright.

Another interview is with the Chief of Police.  The piece shows where police contact and arrests have drastically declined.  A female officer was beaten so severely that she received neurological injuries.  The because she was afraid to defend herself with her gun.

The Chief said that he really didn't see any correlation between the drastic increase in shootings and murders and the drastic reduction in police stops and arrests.

For some strange reason,  Mayor Rahm Emanuel refused to be interviewed.

With this sort of reasoning, matters will only grow worse in Chicago.

That's a real shame.  I love the city and it has some incredible restaurants, museums, and other attractions.

I gave you the statistics at least three times to show you that the current crime rate in Chicago is about half of the all time highs in the early eighties when President Reagan was in office. Huge lie because again since Rham was in office the crime rate averages between thirty to fifty percent lower than the highs in Chicago. So during this lower than normal crime rate from highs you create fake news. Yes, sixty minutes raised the street violence, but they certainly did not try to create the illusion that it is the mayor's fault that under his administration crime is down from all time halls, and then associate the same with President Reagan's all time high crime rate in Chicago.....see how that works......use the bathroom or attempt to be civilized and well read......and quit crapping in the living room.

According to my good friend 2seaoat, this is simply an aberration and should be ignored. A fifty percent increase in murders is perfectly acceptable to the far left Progressives.

You sir are a liar and a fool. The highest murder rate in a year was 974. You give a rate of 762 for 2016 which is clearly almost 25% below murder highs under the current mayor, but fail to give his average since taking office which is 518 murders a year over his five years in office which represents almost half the murders from the historical years of much higher crime in chicago. So you take a mayor which has half the murders per year over his leadership and attempt to bootstrap fake news that the murders are an all time high because of the association of the mayor, a priest, and a minister to President Obama, while ignoring completely the truth that during the Reagan years the murder rate soared close to fifty percent higher than when President Obama was in office. Not only are you a liar, but you are simply not very intelligent, and the worst part......an absolute bore.

I find it amazing that people try to project expertise in things they do not know a thing about:

Chicago police and city officials have lamented the flood of illegal guns into the city, and the crime statistics appeared to support their claims: Police recovered 8,300 illegal guns in 2016, a 20 percent increase from the previous year.

The bulk of the deaths and shooting incidents, which jumped from 2,426 in 2015 to 3,550 last year, occurred in only five neighborhoods on the city's South and West sides, all poor and predominantly black areas where gangs are most active. I can tell you exactly why the last year the murder rate jumped in Chicago:
the task of trying to restore public trust in what appeared to be a weakened police force, a perception that was only buttressed by a dramatic drop in the number of arrests in 2016.

The war on drugs is a complete failure as gangs in chicago since the 1920s have controlled certain neighborhoods and illegal gang activity has been controlled by brutal police practices which included brutality and torture. The settlement of lawsuits concerning police brutality in Chicago had reached the point that the last property tax increase of five hundred million a year was needed to cover the annual settlements and court verdicts concerning brutality. After the mayor failed to release the video of another police officer killing an unarmed black teen until after the election, when the video was released earlier this year the community exploded and massive protests filled the streets as citizens had enough. The police quit policing in protest, the gangs who watch TV became more aggressive in their turf wars and brought more weaponry into Chicago with little fear of arrest as the police were increasingly become scared to death to be on the streets without police methods from the good old days. Also with the legalization of weed, you are seeing interlopers importing illegally legal pot bypassing the cartels and the traditional supply lines controlled by gangs which means that folks are freelancing and turf wars are becoming more intense as ease of supply vary from traditional gang supply which is bringing low cost drugs into a marketplace which has shrinking margins. The statistical averages over the last five years have crime rates which are almost half of traditional high periods of gang activity. We will need to look at the numbers next year to establish if this a trend of the Police department recoiling from police reforms, and if the turf wars are temporary or a trend which may be a multi year uptick like after President Reagan took office.
