.... the vast majority of these protests have been peaceful demonstrations.

And, I have no problem with that.

This nation is deeply divided, and it's clearly within their rights to protest someone they see as unfit for office.

The one violent demonstration we've seen occurred in Portland (maybe something happened in Oakland, but law enforcement says that was provoked by a traffic accident), and a bunch of people were arrested and rightfully so.

Anyone who riots or destroys property should face justice.

And, I would bet dollars to doughnuts that the people acting out in that fashion either voted third party or couldn't be bothered to vote at all.

As Louis C K so brilliantly observed, "If you vote for Clinton, you're an adult.  If you vote for Trump, you're a sucker.  And if you don't vote (or vote third party), you're an asshole.".

Please show us where Republicans did the same in 2008 and 2012?

You'll have to show me where I said they did, Cletus.

Although, they would certainly have been well within their rights to do so, so long as they did so peacefully.

The truth is that Obama was never as divisive a figure as Trump, and most were proud Americans to see him take office.

Even most Trump supporters aren't proud of him.

People who voted for Trump voted so because they were tired of Obama's policies affecting them in a negative manner. Electing a POTUS isn't a personality contest. It is about issues that affect every person. Most of America, the America that works its ass off, has been affected negatively by the policies of Obama. And of course you can't find videos or pics of Republicans rioting because they don't exist.....unlike the pics we now see of Democrats who are acting like babies because they did not get their way....its the same generation that got "participation trophies"...

Republicans are destroying property, they're just doing it in a more celebratory mood ...

As you know, and know well, Lame Duck President Barack Hussein Obama is the most devisive president in modern history.

He was only "divisive" to those who allowed themselves to be programmed by Breitbart.com, the gatewaypundit.com. fox news, hotair.com, etc., etc.

The hardcore right, representing a small fraction of the overall electorate, would consider President Obama to be divisive. He was not divisive to many more people than the vocal extreme right.

I certainly do not approve of your examples of Republicans acting and posting messages like shown.

THE PRESIDENT:  Philadelphia, they can't have the keys back.  They don't know how to drive.  (Applause.)  They don't know how to drive.  They can ride with us if they want, but they got to get in the back seat.  (Applause.)  Because we want to go forward.  We don't want the special interests riding shotgun.  We want working families, middle-class families, up front.  They're our priority. [President Obama Remarks, 10/10/10 via WhiteHouse.gov

See: 2010 election a month later.

White supremacists are nazis. Nazis were democratic socialists. And Hillary was endorsed by the KKK. Did she ever disavow that? Trump did.

But Joani, it's perfectly obvious that Trump has enabled exactly this type of behavior by his demonstrated racism, xenophobia, and on and on. These people think it's now perfectly OK to go public with their long-suppressed hatred. We will likely see more and more of this, along with the growth in size and number of white supremacist groups. It's truly frightening, and I lay it all at Trump's doorstep.

I certainly hope you are wrong because that behaviour is unacceptable.

Long suppressed? There have been numerous violent and criminal riots just this year... and throughout Obama's presidency. He never seemed particularly concerned to me... certainly didn't stop any of it. In fact... he usually appeased it.

Did I miss the riots protesting his election? I don't have any memory of them.... do you? I don't remember anyone from Breitbart being considered as Chief of Staff ...

Read the signs. Only republicans are that racist ... and liberals wouldn't praise Trump on a hate sign. It's revealing how instead of protesting the racial injustice expressed, you can't wait to attack the democrats. You are truly the number one racist-fascist on this forum! Congratulations for being our hero hater.

You creeps are too busy looking for blacks, Latinos, Asians and Muslims to harass and intimidate to legally assemble and protest anything. Reality!!

What about the videos I posted of young students chanting, "Trump, "Trump" and "White Power" and "Build the Wall, Build the Wall"??

Are those students leftist propagandists, nimrod?

This shit is just toxic to our entire society.

Have you seen the videos of young students beating and spitting on Trump supporters leaving the rally? Are they right wingers?

What is heavily edited, lacking context, and a red herring Alex?

Did I get that right? Isn't that the correct leftist answer when left with direct quotes?
