When I see Space Adventures like this, I really, really wish I had been just a small part of it. Maybe just the guy who bolted up the Robot arm or rigged the chute. Can you imagine watching the landing that and sweating bullets, "Oh Lord PLEASE let the SOB work" You can see the headline "Loose bolt on robotic fouls Mars rover" I have very very few regrets about my life not having even a little part of the space program is one of them. ' Good video and thanks. Now my grandchildren will have to endure another power point lecture/video from Grandpaw...

It was ALL accomplished before the advent of using any kind of computer generated imagery in moviemaking. All with actual models and with animation which had to be hand created frame by frame.

It's for the same reason I have so much respect for those vintage animated beer signs I have on display here at home. Those effects were created before all of that went the way of computer generated images too.

They used a landing very similar to that one in H G Well's, First Men In The Moon, Columbia Pictures 1964 production...

I'm curious about something. What part of the original space program was fake? I realize the manned moon landing itself was fake. But what about all that led up to that? Did astronauts actually travel to the moon? Did they never actually leave Earth orbit? Was John Glenn's orbital mission fake too?
At what point did it all become fake?
And at whatever that point was, what was it about anything that came after that which had to be fake?

All of it!! Have you ever personally watched a launch? If you did it was from miles away. How come they never blow up like in the Movies?
