Dead cinch correct on raising the concern about where American wealth has been diverted and the concern for us to have resources for changing technology, but I do not see the chinese or any nation ever to have hegemony over the world like the United States domination. Tactical nuclear could render any countries navies toothless and without the same offensive take overs of other nations will be difficult. I see China taking a defensive position, which has been the history of this country's strategy.

They would neutralize our carrier groups and unless they take the former soviet union and create a land bridge.....they are not going to be an offensive threat. We could take out a chinese attack on Australia, unless they make some breakthrough concerning air power or missle technology, their defense efforts are defensive.....and you will see some good old fashion FU America as they get those defensive capabilities.

Not just Taiwan. Where is the biggest land mass in the region where the population is small and there is a lot of real estate where you can settle some of your 1.3 billion population? The Aussies are very wary of the Chinaman.
