DUBAI (Reuters) - Iran's army chief said on Wednesday the seizure of two U.S. navy boats and their 10 sailors should be a lesson to members the U.S. Congress trying to impose new sanctions on Tehran.

"This incident in the Persian Gulf, which probably will not be the American forces' last mistake in the region, should be a lesson to troublemakers in the U.S. Congress," Major General Hassan Firouzabadi, head of Iran's armed forces, was quoted as saying by Tasnim news agency.

Let me ask you a question Mr. Markle.......what would you do if two Iranian military boats were floating in Escambia Bay? Do you think we would capture those boats? Do you think we would release those folks right away?

Diplomacy does not make profits for the folks who make bombs and bullets. President Obama will go down in history as one of the best Presidents in the last 100 years, and to think you have suffered to such an extent for eight years avoiding that fundamental truth.

Sometimes (well often) Mr. Markle's partisanship gets in the way of rational thought. I would add to Mr. Oats comment that the Iranian sailors aboard those vessels in our waters would also have their hands on their heads if not forced to lay down on their stomachs to be cuffed. We were in their territorial waters by our mistake and it was handled appropriately . . . . . . no harm no foul, a non issue.

First I would wonder how two such small boats got across the Atlantic Ocean without being noticed. Obviously there would be a much larger ship in the Gulf of Mexico from which the boats were launched.

But, for the sake of your amusing argument we'll say the boats and their crew magically appeared in international waters and then started to make their way toward Escambia Bay.

We would follow International Maritime Law. First, the Coast Guard would make every attempt to reach the boats by radio. They would inform them if they are off course. If the boats were disabled in any way. If they were, the Coast Guard would offer assistance. If the radio and visual communications failed, they then have a series of intensifying actions up to and including intercepting the boats and escorting them back into International waters.

The crew would not be taken captive and forced to be video taped in the position of prisoners of war and forced to apologize on video for the propaganda purposes of Iran. It also violates the Geneva Convention to use captives in that manner to humiliate the captured crewman's country.

Iran did not plan this incident. But when the boats came into their territorial waters, an irresistible opportunity at hand to further humiliate the United States. They knew it was days before the limp State of the Union message and played it like a grand master chess player.

They demonstrated the weakness of our semi-retired President once again to the world. While referring to Iran in the limp SoTU message, President Obama pretended we did not have our soldiers being held captive by an enemy nation. The woman captive was forced to wear a head scarf.
