Nassau County Police Department recovered a cache of weapons and over 8,000 rounds of ammo said to belong to a Syosset man. As part of ongoing investigation with the Joint Terrorism Task Force and Transportation Security Administration, authorities said Mark Vicars, 49, was pulled over during a traffic stop that led to his arrest.
Police said that Vicars showed a fake ID that said he was a federal air marshal. Police also found a loaded pistol, gravity knife, assault rifle, ballistic body armor, a tactical vest that said "Federal Agent," and three high-capacity magazines containing 30 rounds each for that rifle, authorities said.
Inside Vicars' Syosset home in a gated community, police found multiple weapons and the 8,300 rounds of ammunition.
In court, he pleaded not guilty to charges including criminal possession of a weapon and forged instrument. His Legal Aid attorney said the weapons were lawfully owned and that Vicars didn't attempt to hurt anyone
