Geez! All he had was a vandalism charge. He probably would have gotten probation. He left the country for that and now they're going to extradite him?

He was found squatting in the guest house of a home that he formerly owned. I wonder why all the fuss too.

Felony vandalism.

And no ... they are not going to "extradite" him, not from Canada anyway if that's what you're thinking. He was encountered upon entering the US, so no extradition necessary. He's being held in a facility in the U.S.

He'll be extradited from Vermont to California and it's doubtful he would be able to successfully mount an interstate extradition fight. Those are rarely successful. It's all pretty routine. A bit surprising they would go to the expense though, given only 5k damage. Probably because of his celebrity ... or the owner of the vandalized townhouse is influential.

(btw .... when they check you for wants/warrants, whether at the border or during a traffic stop, etc .... they generally call the agency issuing the warrant for an extradition decision. I've encountered many a person with an outstanding warrant whom the issuing agency would not come and get them if they were more than X miles away ... or out-of-State. In that event you just let them go unless you have your own PC to detain them further)
