Bloomberg Consumer Comfort index continues to show "unusual strength" in spite of soft BLS report

Consumer confidence readings continue to show unusual strength and acceleration with the comfort index up nearly 2 points in the October 4 week to 44.8 for the best score in five months. The index is up nearly 5 points since mid-September for the best 3-week run in six years, a run that belies soft job growth and volatility in the global markets. This is good news for the economy going into the holiday shopping season.
