I didn't recognize any of the Marines who signed that letter.
I bet they could find at least 200 more who would sign a letter to encourage the President and Congress to do the deal, including several retired USMC generals. For as many generals who signed that letter, I bet there were bunches who support the deal and who who refused to sign it.
Retired USMC Generals who could have signed and didn't: I can think of General Joseph Hoar, General Anthony Zinni, LtGen Gregory Newbold, LtGen Frank Peterson, LtGen Ray Franklin, LtGen Charles Pitman (he lives locally). How about LtGen Sam Helland, MGen Bob Flanagan, MGen Patrick Sullivan, MGen Charles Bolden?
You see, just from the Marine Corps, there are fistfuls of retired Generals who could have signed that stupid letter, but who did not.....
That letter will not sway the deal left or right, so it was a wasted effort.
