Former Vice President Dick Cheney will speak out against the Obama administration’s newly signed nuclear deal with Iran next month at the American Enterprise Institute, a conservative think tank.
According to an AEI news release, Mr. Cheney, who served as vice president to George W. Bush, will give a speech on his concerns about the deal that could pose “consequences for the security interests of the United States and its allies in the Middle East.”
In an interview with Fox News last month, Mr. Cheney blasted the deal, saying it would lead to an arms race in the Middle East.
“The fact of the matter is that the situation we’ve got when Iran ends up with nuclear weapons, that is bound to lead others in the region to protect themselves and in effect to acquire their own capability,” he said.
Mr. Cheney’s speech is scheduled for Sept. 8, just one week before the Sept. 17 deadline for Congress to vote on whether or not the U.S. will authorize the deal.
