We would become a lot less wussified if people would pop each other when somebody crosses a line with verbal abuse, but now the mostly worms like Cruz or Trump can say all kinds of horrible things and are protected because if anybody popped them they would go to jail.  There was a time not that far in our country's history where a below the belt insult was an invitation for a duel.....I would prefer immediate fists because the worms would stop being worms.....but of course we live in a civilized nation which is full of worms, and our laws encourage worm behavior.

My comment was in general.  I have been listening to sports radio talk shows when going to work which is an hour drive.  I am so tired of worm talk.  They insult and say the most horrible things with this false sense of being a bad asz.....the same level of courage Trump is displaying.....just throwing chit all over the place without fear of somebody popping his pompous asz.....sadly he could whip all his primary opponents, but if got popped in real time, that bravado would go away.....my reference to fighting words is that today anybody can almost say anything to another and have no consequences.  When I was growing up I got in more than one scuffle over words, and it cut both ways......

I've never had a conversation in person that has lead to a fist fight... and I don't mince words or shy away.

I remember playing tackle football in about fifth grade.  Two brothers who were a year older and a year younger had their three year older cousin visiting.  He started talking smack, and next thing you know it was me against three, and all the while the dad a Navy vet from WWII opens the window and yells....."kick his asz"......I might add that they did, and the next day the three of us were playing tackle football, and his dad was driving us for ice cream.  I went to their father's funeral five years ago and have been friends with them for fifty years and the older brother went to Annapolis, and almost gave up on his dream because he could not swim.  It truly is a different time as youth activities are over supervised, and worms are acting like tough guys.  I will bet the farm that Ted Cruz never hit anybody or was hit as a child.....yet he is a wormleader.  Teachers have emasculated young males to be compliant and docile.  Yea, I get your intellectual arguments.....I do, but there was something honest about scuffles which made honest men.

I suppose all of that is preferable to being shot because one didn't show another enough reespekt.

I have never had a gun pointed at me and once had a knife to my throat when I stepped in to protect another who was being chased around a car after he slammed a door where the glass broke.....A guy who could kill me in a second was a big man with a knife, and today any worm can use words or a gun shooting from a moving car......the dishonesty and cowardice of it all makes me relish the days when folks got in scuffles, and did not use worm words or tactics.....and certainly folks who were little turds did not shoot guns from moving vehicles hitting innocents......nope pop the sob......I loved the HBO special on Frank Sinatra when he popped a columnist.....knocked almost out and the sorry asz bitch sued him.....his career of slamming people in his column as the big bad boy ended with Frank's punch.....and a 50k pay day for the worm.....as he said in the special.....he would do it again without hesitation.....

In fourth grade my son was suspended from school, 1/2 day, "for the INTENT to hit."

We lived in Kansas at the time.
