The analogy to christianity would be if methodists hated baptists as much they hated atheists and believed the bible instructs them to kill methodists too.

Unfortunately in Islam, the side kicking people's ass makes the rules. That includes how the Koran is interpreted. You could always challenge that belief if you have the cahones.
