Jeb Reveals Top Foreign Policy Advisor Jeb-and-george-bush-1

Washington (CNN)Jeb Bush cited his brother, former President George W. Bush, as one of his main advisers on the Middle East in a private meeting in Manhattan on Tuesday, according to three people who attended the off-the-record event.

The comment came as a shock to some who were in the room because Jeb, a likely presidential contender, has taken pains to publicly distance himself from his brother and his controversial policies, particularly in that area of the world.

The Washington Post reported that Jeb cited his brother as an adviser on Israel, however, four sources confirmed to CNN that the comments were focused on foreign policy more broadly. Three of them said Jeb noted his brother was an adviser on the Middle East.

One of the people in the room jotted down Jeb's comment as such: "What you need to know is that who I listen to when I need advice on the Middle East is George W. Bush."

When I say this it has nothing to do with partisan politics.
But I cannot even conceive of anyone having that hayseed for an advisor on anything, especially foreign policy.

My jaw dropped after I saw this at cnn.com this morning!

Elect Jeb and the first stop will be the war with Iran that Obama has pushed back so hard against. You know he is gonna want to outdo his daddy and older brother on the war front......

Papa Bush is the only one who had any sense about war in the middle east and I don't know how well he's doing these days as far as being up on all the latest happenings.

Given how W's approval ratings have plummeted I can't imagine why Jeb would say such a thing and think it would be well received.

It just creeps me out to think of another Bush in the WH. I don't think the country is over the shock of W yet. Americans memories aren't THAT bad are they?

War with Iran is inevitable. They are pushing for it themselves.

I think you've "misunderestimated" Poppy.

No...it is not inevitable, and it is ISRAEL, not Iran, that is pushing for war.

You are correct--It is the war-mongering Zionists of Israel who are trying to foment war with Iran; Iran isn't looking for a war.

That's entirely possible. I was just thinking how, by comparison, his Iraq war was much more tidy than W's since he had the good sense not to rip up the balance of power in the region by leaving Saddam alone.

I agree with you and Z about the Zionists. I don't think Iran wants a war either.
