Does race trump truth? In a confrontation between police and perpetrators, what is more important? Facts or skin color? When protests morph into riots, do we excuse bad behavior based on race? If we do, how are we ever going to end racism? Chloe Valdary, a student at the University of New Orleans, confronts these critical questions and offers a compelling answer.

Total Bull chit. A war is going on in America and to deny the reality and make up some bull chit about being condescending is absurd. The stats tell the truth and folks have said enough, and all the loyalist who turn a blind eye to reality.....let their fate be decided in the course of history.

No way can rioting and destruction of private property can be considered justified. I suspect they could be planned and carried out by professional anarchists whose intention is to destroy the United States. Think of the expense to the cities to pay for the police coverage, overtime pay and the frayed nerves and exhaustion of the police on duty. So far only a few riots have occurred; what if that were stepped up to one per week. It would be easier than most folks think. Every large city has a ghetto full of people with no future and nothing better to do than toss Molotov cocktails. There are probably hundreds of people in every major city who might think a riot would be more fun than a trip to DisneyWorld.

THANK YOU semi-retired President Obama for working so hard to divide our country.

THANK YOU semi-retired President Obama for working so hard to divide our country.

Actually no effort at all by President Obama......a unified America without political and racial strife is a fairy tale which like the one that we won the 11 year occupation of Iraq requires a firm belief in the tooth fairy.

No way can rioting and destruction of private property can be considered justified.

Kind words seldom change an oppressors behavior, and as our forefathers found out that destroying some tea in Boston Harbor was the beginning of the path of freedom from the oppressors.......Old white privileged folks telling the oppressed what is justified.....they called those folks Loyalist. At some point civil disobedience will happen. I am not condoning the behavior, but political change is a multifaceted process, and freedom, liberty, and justice have prices.

Is 158 fires justification?

Is 158 fires justification?

The near westside of Chicago was burned to the ground after Martin Luther King's death.....and less than twenty years later real reform and the election of a black mayor in Chicago happened, but those burned out areas hurt the folks who were the angriest, but it mobilized the community and today folks share power in Chicago.....so sometimes the throwing of tea into the harbor is wrong, but it begins a process. We celebrate the Boston Tea Party as a nation, but we forget the British wanted the thugs hung.

Baltimore ore has a black female mayor and many elected black officials. So again is 158 fires justified?

Injustice begets injustice. A slave revolt was considered unjustified and a violation of the law. An abused child who kills his abuser is a criminal. Is it justified?.......many would say of course it is justified, and others would say taking the life of the abuser is NEVER justified. In Chicago after the riots those who were superfluous people slowly began to be empowered, and today from that rage a political awakening happened, and folks like State Senator Jones came to power and could mentor a young politician who became President of the United States. The issue is not the fires or the death of an abuser, but the abuse.

WaPo, April 27, 2012:

Let's just say it: The Republicans are the problem

http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/lets-just-say-it-the-republicans-are-the-problem/2012/04/27/gIQAxCVUlT_story.html

By Thomas E. Mann and Norman J. Ornstein April 27, 2012

"Rep. Allen West, a Florida Republican, was recently captured on video asserting that there are “78 to 81” Democrats in Congress who are members of the Communist Party. Of course, it’s not unusual for some renegade lawmaker from either side of the aisle to say something outrageous. What made West’s comment — right out of the McCarthyite playbook of the 1950s — so striking was the almost complete lack of condemnation from Republican congressional leaders or other major party figures, including the remaining presidential candidates.

It’s not that the GOP leadership agrees with West; it is that such extreme remarks and views are now taken for granted.

We have been studying Washington politics and Congress for more than 40 years, and never have we seen them this dysfunctional. In our past writings, we have criticized both parties when we believed it was warranted. Today, however, we have no choice but to acknowledge that the core of the problem lies with the Republican Party..."

Thomas E. Mann is a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, and Norman J. Ornstein is a resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute. This essay is adapted from their book “It’s Even Worse Than It Looks: How the American Constitutional System Collided With the New Politics of Extremism,” which will be available Tuesday.

These lawless protest are an affront to decency and should not be

Bingo, and then two weeks later they murder two innocent policemen having lunch, and the very people who were pom poms for outright theft of taxpayer money were crickets after the murders.....were those actions justified? Much...Much.....Much....Much less so than an angry kid in Baltimore acting up.

I lost over $260,000 in destroyed uninsured items over the last decade and I completely get that chit happens. I have been a victim of vandals, burglars, and have been attacked by three people while walking through a parking lot and not once was I petrified about the future.....chit happens. The kids in Baltimore which face a world of no employment or opportunity are acting up. They are angry. What I get is forum members who want those kids to become second class citizens again with the adoption of Jim Crow laws and who have been having a hissy fit since their youth when those folks were given opportunities for equality, but damn.........a slave does not have an estate plan, and there is no party who is seeking to give those former slaves 300 BILLION dollars when the party of NO would rather give it to the former slave owners descendants. You know inherited money is good, and being black, trapped in urban poverty without hope is evil.

Who passed the Jim Crow laws? Democrats.

NONE of the rioters have ever been a slave, nor do any of them even know someone who was a slave...or slave owner.

Who has run Baltimore for the past 60 years?

If you've lost $260,000 over the past decade, it seems a case of poor planning and bad decisions.

Nope Global warming and assets which could not be insured in historical floods caused those losses. Tell me about your comfortable life where your parents left you a good start, and then tell me about blacks in Alabama I knew in 1950 who were living in horrible conditions in the Jim Crow South while you were going to Cub games with your parents. You started life probably on second base, and most blacks because of slavery and Jim Crow were not able to even get into the dugout. We see many Polish immigrants in Illinois who in two generations are living in the best suburbs, yet a Black man whose family was brought here three hundred years ago does not get the same deference the new arrival gets.......the stain of racism has harmed this nation, and it is people like you who have never seen the same because you were born on second base that are the very reason it cannot be eradicated because you think you hit a double, and the person with darker skin is less than you.....do not deny the truth.....you are a racist. All I want is a fair game where people are judged by their character, but when a black young man is picked up for no reason and has his spinal cord severed, and dies....the game is not fair, and all those who look at the reaction and ignore the cause are usually sitting on second base.

You made a choice to build in a flood plain. Not overly bright. But, your choice. You paid for that location you demanded.

Curious, a white guy...telling me how blacks are discriminated against, which is demonstrably false. And telling me how I feel about blacks. you must be psychic...probably psychotic.

The Japanese were severely discriminated against in MODERN HISTORY as opposed to your examples of generations ago. The were put into interment camps. Yet, somehow they are greatly successful compared to blacks. Indians, Pakistanis, Asians come to this country and are successful with successful children. How is that possible?

Who is it here that points out that you would find racism in a school of fish? They're 100% on target are they not?

2seaoat

Yes, and you are in that school of fish.....quite content to think you are superior to people of color. If you had a police uniform instead of a yellow century 21 blazer, you could be severing spinal cords instead of steering people away from certain neighborhoods......I know....that never happened.

As with our Socialist/Communist good friend Wordslinger, lying comes very easy to you. Especially when you are desperate.

I have never posted a false cover of a time magazine to lie on an issue. You are either too ignorant to understand peer reviewed science compared to a journalistic article, or you are a liar.....you might be both.
