Go Argos! There is a tremendous fan-base for high school football in Pensacola, and I hope this spills over as UWF's program begins.

By golly those naysayers were so much fun telling me that you could not fit a football field in Maritime Park......it would never happen......I am going to need a wheelbarrow to put my big head in.....Seaoat right again.....Naysayers ZERO

There's a tremendous fan base for "winners" in this area. The alumni base required to support football is quite thin at best. Most UWF grads are from elsewhere and/or have to move elsewhere to get a job. I don't think it will be able to draw from FSU, Troy, and South Alabama player pools. It took five years for footballl at USA to develop and they have a failed program at UAB to steal from and a name coach who played for Bear Bryant-Joey Jones. UWF can't afford to pay its faculty well enough to keep them in place, yet this boondoggle will be funded.

If it doesn't win, it won't be supported. The crowds are sparse when the
Soccer teams were winning national titles.

I will admit, when I started grad school at UWF in early 1991, I was floored to hear that professors in the biology department were only making $32-$35K. That was not very much money even then.

Hey, a miracle... I finally kind-of agree with PaceDog on something....

But, maybe the football team can make some money for the university. They can be a cupcake team that takes on FSU or UF at homecoming for a big payday and a chanced to be seen on television.

My grad school - Georgia Southern - currently has an athletic program that is on the rise, and they ended up accepting UF's invitation to go down to The Swamp and be the sacrificial lamb for homecoming.
