Why would the US make any deal with Iran when the absolute power in that country with the final say on anything is a RADICAL RELIGIOUS cleric, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who is the highest authority in Iran.

As Supreme Leader he has the final say on all matters political, far beyond the powers of the president. His hatred for the West and in particular the US is well documented and his daily rhetorical attacks on the "Great Satan" as he's dubbed the US have not been toned down. Iran's track record of deception on all things nuclear alone should disqualify this lunacy.

So all of you haters of religion (BOF, word sal et al) complain about religious leaders, yet you want to believe and trust an Iranian religious leader regarding his intentions about nuclear weapons, but would nuke this nation and Israel if given a chance....

Hypocrites.

Pakistan has nukes and hates our guts.  They never used them.  Red China has nukes.  Russia has nukes.  California has nukes.

Israel has nukes and what makes you believe they wouldn't use them against us in a heartbeat if they felt such an attack would leave them safely in charge of the entire Mideast?  American war mongers like you call Israel our greatest ally. We know what the U.S. has done and is doing for Israel.  But what has Israel ever really done for us?  Has it ever come to our defense?  Fought by our side? Sent us money?

Israel's intel claims that conventional bombing can't be depended upon to halt all of Iran's nuclear development capability.

Which leaves us two possibilities if we have to be sure Iran won't develop nuclear weapons: 1) invade, defeat and occupy Iran, or 2) increase economic sanctions and hope that doesn't result in Iran doubling up on its nuclear development.

Of course, we could hit Iran with our own nukes, but then the rest of the world's powers that have nukes would wonder about their own safety ... and our moves might bring on much worse nuclear attacks from big enemies with big atomic arsenals.

Obama's path suggests a change in the level of animosity that has existed between Iran and the United States since the downfall of the Shah. 

Why not give peace a chance?

The attack on Iran is not going to happen during the remainder of Obama's presidency. Now we just need to make sure no wingnut wins the presidency in 2016.

Wordslinger and the other Progressives here have simply deteriorated into desperation, despair and stirring the pot.

Iran's constitution says the will destroy Israel. I don't recall California threatening the Nevada or any other state. With Russia, they already had nuclear weapons and both leaders knew the meaning of mutual destruction. They were men of relative common sense. Not driven by a faith that tells them if Iran is turned into Chernobyl and all the men were killed, there would be a mass orgy with 72 virgins for each and what good were the women here on earth anyway?

IRAN is already changing and delaying the deal and, typically, the Progressives are sucking up to Iran and blaming the Republicans.

The President negotiates and signs treaties and CONGRESS approves or disapproves them. Obviously semi-retired President Obama missed class the day they taught Advice and Consent.
