I thing the "skewering" method of politics is overcooked, dry, and tasteless.

Both Republicans and Democrats need to refocus on the country, post their platforms and defend. Then may the best platform that addresses the needs of the country move forward.

That would be nice. I think most of us know what the democrats are proposing, but I have been asking for a while what the GOP is proposing, especially when it comes to the middle class. I have yet to get an answer

Well She Writes, that's the way it should be, but hasn't been for more than thirty years. You're longing for how it was politically in this country back in the 40s and 50s, and even the virulent 60s. Back when the power of advertizing media wasn't overwhelming. Today there are three parties: Democrats, Republicans and Oligarchs. The oligarchs, it would seem, have the full support of the Supreme Court, and their purchasing power of TV -- the most important propagandizing tool -- allows them to buy congress through campaign financing. They've had that power a long time now, and we the people need to realize our country is on a swift elevator to hell unless we manage somehow to revolt and change the system that allows such political power to be controlled, utterly, by the ultra rich.

The dysfunctional government we've been living under, with all its mock outrage, open hatred, and unwillingness to compromise on almost every issue, is a by-product of a congress who are not only terribly dissatisfied with being controlled from the outside, but dissatisfied also by being virtually unable to initiate or accomplish anything, without the okay of their private owners. Such a world of tension and self-defeating dissatisfaction makes harmony impossible.

You are certainly not alone in wanting our government back in our own hands.

What's abundantly clear, is that this country which once risked everything for a truly representative government, is fast slipping into fascism.

What must it be like to go to Washington the first time as a senator or congress-person, with every intention of genuinely doing your best to improve your country, to have your spirit sapped and be forced to sell your soul during the approach to your first re-election?

Down with Amerika Inc.! Corporate control of our government through campaign financing.
