You ever drive on ice..........sometimes your first instinct on ice will get you in a great deal of trouble......sometimes the right way to drive on ice is counter intuitive..........budgets are like driving on ice.......it is not as simple as slamming on the brakes.......that usually gets you in the ditch.

Drastically cutting government spending is too much of a shock to the economic system. It would be similar to suddenly noticing how much you owed on your mortgage and trying to pay it off in three months time. That wouldn't work to pay it down OR leave you any money to live on. These things take time.
