Stein hits the nail on the head.
Noted economist and actor Ben Stein, famous for his dry, monotone, comedic delivery, made an appearance on America's News Headquarters on Fox News on Sunday to discuss President Obama's economic policies. Stein believes the president's policies are not only bad for America from an economic standpoint, but that they are also dividing Americans along racial lines.
Stein discussed the rising number of Americans who have become dependent on welfare programs under the Obama administration. He also questioned Democrats claims that Republican budget cuts to those programs are hitting minorities especially hard.
"More people are on food stamps than ever," Stein told Shannon Bream. "More people are getting welfare than ever. What cuts are they talking about? More people are getting subsidized healthcare than ever," he continued. "What cuts are they talking about? It's all a way to racially divide voting in this country."
Stein accurately points out that any reduction in benefits can be traced back to the record number of people now signing up for programs such as SNAP, commonly referred to as food stamps. Simple math tells you that if there are more people eating the pie, then everyone eating the pie will get a smaller slice. There have been no true cuts to these programs. They have expanded. What Democrats mean when they say these programs have been cut, is that they have actually been increased, but not as much as Democrats wanted.
On the issue of race, Stein rejected the idea that most Americans are opposed to Obama because of his race. His contention is that Obama and the left are using the race issue to divide Americans, and using that despicable ploy to gain an advantage politically. Even at the expense of the good of the nation. As always with the left, the ends justify the means.
"This president is the most racist president there has ever been in America," Stein said. "He is purposely trying to use race to divide Americans."
"They’re handing out pamphlets about this -- and it’s been described a lot in the Wall Street Journal, ‘Look, the Republican candidates are targeting President Obama because he’s black and you’re black, so you gotta go out and support him,'" he said. "That’s just nonsense."
Stein pointed out one undeniable fact that Democrats are loathe to admit: "The Republicans are the most pro-black party there’s ever been. The Republicans are the ones who passed all the civil rights laws back in the 60s, not the Democrats.".
If recent polls are any indication, then Obama and the Democrats have squeezed all the support they can get out of using the race card. Americans list the economy far above any other issue when it comes to what's important. Results of a Fox News poll shows 43-percent of Americans say the economy matters most to them. Coming in at a distant umber two on the list is immigration, at 17-percent, followed by health care, 16-percent, and foreign policy, 15-percent. The biggest driver of racial tension in this nation is not its people, but the divisive tactics of the Democrat Party.
"I think that's [the economy] what people are saying is the most important issue," Stein said, "but what the White House is doing, is trying to racialize all politics. And they're especially trying to tell the African-American voter that the GOP is against letting them have a chance at a good life in this economy, and that's just a complete lie."
