Building on the shore line of the beaches should be banned. Thankful for the memories I have of the beaches WITHOUT concrete.

I agree with markle.
First of all, Huckabee is a true conservative and a true God fearing man. Whatever he does to the beach is done with the blessing of the Almighty. It's not like some liberal progressive socialist atheist was doing it.
Second of all, it's not socialism and statism for all us taxpayers to subsidize the rebuilding of Huckabee's beach mansion every time a hurricane washes it away. It's the Christian thing to do which aint socialism because Jesus is of course a conservative republican.
So all you liberals need to stop bitching about it.

FYI on flood insurance issue on Santa Rosa Island . . . . having lived here since 1972 I naturally have been through many a blow. I have used my flood insurance on only one storm, Hurricane Ivan, and that claim was minimal in the $4000 range as I recall. Most homes here have been hardened and while not storm resistant they do have the ability to withstand one heck of a blow. In Ivan, we only lost 22 shingles! It is the older places built long ago but still sit on ground level and most of those are not hardened. Generally, the standards now required to build and or remodel have the goal of being as storm resistant as possible to lessen the damage and reduce the payouts during storm damages. The good thing about the island during a storm (if there is such a thing) is the water washes over the island and into Santa Rosa Sound which limits the water level surge from building up to damaging heights like we witnessed at Grand Lagoon as an example. The surge entering these smaller bays with a dead end cause the water to be compressed and elevated causing severe damage to property there.
