Our history is filled with instances of where our government has provided vast sums of money and foreign aid to a dictatorial, tyrannical, thieving despot -- regardless of the awful consequences we set in motion against the citizens of the nation involved. Then, as we do with Iran, we sardonically ask: "why to they hate us so?"
Want to put more pressure on the drug cartels that fuel the current exodus of children from Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador?
Threaten the leaders of those three countries that we will cut off all aid unless they start pursuing (with our help) the arrest, trials and imprisonment of cartel leaders. Then do so if they don't comply.
Next: Legalize drugs -- this will put the cartels out of business, and maybe allow some government leaders to start contributing to the welfare of their people. Consider: The children are innocent. Punishing them, or forcing them to go back to street hell violence, has all the moral credibility and authority of stoning rape victims to death. In fact, it's so insidious, it has to be the position of republicanAmerikans.
