Facebook drives users to consume, or at least to drink certain brands, as reported by a report by liquor conglomerate Diageo. Facebook advertisements for Smirnoff and Baileys catapulted the labels to incredible sales increases. Two Facebook advertisers experiencing spike in sales

The numbers are surprising the casual Facebook sure. In 2011, the social network is expected to make billions of dollars on marketing. The two biggest Facebook advertisers are Smirnoff and Baileys, according to Diageo. These two businesses, as shown by Nielsen data, showed a 20 percent spike in sales through marketing.

The sales in-crease was something Diageo Senior Vice President of Global Marketing Kathy Parker spoke about. She explained the art to the Financial Times.

"Facebook is working with us to make sure that we are not only fan collecting, but that they are actively engaged," said Parker.

Gawker explained that Diageo entered into a $10 million relationship with Facebook for promoting as the owner of Smirnoff and Guinness along with others. The of-fice building for Diageo’s corporate headquarters in Sao Paolo, Brazil is used by Facebook. That’s just another reason that they have such a good relationship. With more than 750 million Facebook users ripe for data mining and massive money to be made, expect the booze ads to continue flowing.

SWAT team advertising

Company building on Facebook is becoming as close to a sure thing as possible in the corporate world these days. Recognizing this, Diageo upped its digital marketing spending budget by 50 percent over the past year to approx-imately 20 percent of its media spending. Companies are making these deals as the traffic on Facebook is way higher than normal ads, including search en-gine results. The corporations invested besides Dia-geo consist of Procter & Gamble Co., American Express and Wal-Mart Stores Inc. Advertisers are given help by “SWAT teams” at Facebook with enough cash. That means it is very helpful for a company to have a lot of money to put down.

Facebook Vice President of Global Marketing Solutions Carolyn Everson predicts that the Dia-geo partnership will create lawsuit studies from which numerous world brands can learn. What a person drinks will not be the only thing that is shaped. Every purchase an individual makes will be shaped by what they see on Facebook soon.
