U.S DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY HAS TOLD BANKS – IN WRITING – IT MAY INSPECT SAFE DEPOSIT BOXES WITHOUT WARRANT AND SEIZE ANY GOLD, SILVER, GUNS OR OTHER VALUABLES IT FINDS INSIDE THOSE BOXES!

According to in-house memos now circulating, the DHS has issued orders to banks across America which announce to them that “under the Patriot Act” the DHS has the absolute right to seize, without any warrant whatsoever, any and all customer bank accounts, to make “periodic and unannounced” visits to any bank to open and inspect the contents of “selected safe deposit boxes.”

Further, the DHS “shall, at the discretion of the agent supervising the search, remove, photograph or seize as evidence” any of the following items “bar gold, gold coins, firearms of any kind unless manufactured prior to 1878, documents such as passports or foreign bank account records, pornography or any material that, in the opinion of the agent, shall be deemed of to be of a contraband nature.”

DHS memos also state that banks are informed that any bank employee, on any level, that releases “improper” “classified DHS Security information” to any member of the public, to include the customers whose boxes have been clandestinely opened and inspected and “any other party, to include members of the media” and further “that the posting of any such information on the internet will be grounds for the immediate termination of the said employee or employees and their prosecution under the Patriot Act.” Safety deposit box holders and depositors are not given advanced notice when failed banks shut their doors.

So are you saying your privacy is more important than the country's security?

Yes of course...how can you even question such a thing...the government is running around yelling danger ! terrorists! run for your lives ! fire! and you liberals are swallowing it hook line and sinker. Liberty carries an inherent risk but it is more than worth it.

From the article...

Nothing screams Internet credibility quite like an entire paragraph in all caps, alternating text background colors and no fewer than five question marks in an email subject line.

We recently received such a chain email insisting that bank safe deposit boxes merely let people "entertain the illusion of safety." (If anyone can persuade you to take your valuables out of the bank and stuff them in your mattress, please don’t let it be a stranger who just can’t figure out that caps lock key.)

It was the title of the article but I realize you have trouble with such concepts..

I cannot believe that anybody would have such a lack of understanding on how our constitution works and even post something so silly. It explains the repeated gullibility and fear which drives so many who think our government is evil. It is not. It is only as good as the efforts each of us put in to continue to make this representative democracy the best.

I cannot believe how anyone can blindly accept as fact any wild claims that appear in conservative chain emails (or on blogs that concede they have no idea from whence the information came).

Then again, this is TEO we are talking about here. He's a few wins shy of making it out of group play.

The United States Government is the most evil thing this world has ever known, even Rome would have blushed doing what the Feds do.

Our government is only as good as the people who participate and fight special interests and evil. I would beg to differ. I think the United States of America after all moral issues are factored has been a good influence in this world.

Enjoy your liberty when you're dead. I'm sure it will be exhilarating.

I now regret the patriot act. And from that act it has grown substantially into a even nastier anti freedom piece of legislation.

What I think is when laws are made, then this opens a door for it to be used in other ways. Then it grows into a even bigger monster as that law gets manipulated and utilized by one politician after another.

Well I would like to enjoy my unobstructed liberty before I am dead....but seaoat says anyone wanting that is living in fear....some kind of liberal twisted logic...
