DENVER — A father accused of pressuring his son into shooting and killing a man last year was convicted by a Denver jury Friday.
Daryl Thompson, Sr., 44, was found guilty of first-degree murder, witness intimidation and accessory to a crime in the death of 37-year-old Charles Harris, according to the Denver District Attorney’s Office.
His son, 20-year-old Daryl Thompson, Jr., pleaded guilty in December to second-degree murder.
The DA’s Office said one of the conditions of the son’s plea agreement was that he testify truthfully at this father’s trial.
On April 24, 2013, the father and son were part of an altercation with Harris. After the fight, they approached Harris as he was walking near 38th Avenue and Grape Street. At that time, Thompson, Sr. demanded Thompson, Jr. shoot Harris.
The father was sentenced following his trail, the DA’s Office said. He received life in prison with parole.
