Rep. Buck McKeon displayed the probing intellect this week that we expect from a chairman of the House Armed Services Committee.

Commenting on Fox News Channel about the prisoner swap with the Taliban that sprung U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, the California Republican explained why he plans to hold hearings on the matter. “It really is kind of ironic, because this is kind of playing out much like Benghazi,” he said, “where they kind of do or don’t do something, and uh, and then kind of come up with a story afterward of why they did or didn’t do something. This is really mind-boggling.”

So the prisoner exchange in Afghanistan is “much like” the 2012 attacks on U.S. facilities in Libya because, in both cases, the administration did or didn’t do something and then later gave an account of why it did or didn’t do that something. Scandalous.

And this is just the beginning of the uncanny similarities. Both events happened — you’re not going to believe this — under President Obama! And in both instances, one of the people involved was — yes, you guessed it — Susan Rice! Don’t forget that Bergdahl and Benghazi both begin with the letter “B,” and although Afghanistan is in Asia and Libya is in Africa, both continents begin with the letter “A.”

Now comes word that Hillary Rodham Clinton, blamed for Benghazi, was also behind Bergdahl’s swap, which occurred 16 months after she left office. The conservative publication Human Events reports that “Benghazi Clinton has now become directly involved” in the Bergdahl affair. How does Human Events know this? Well, because “Jake Tapper of CNN wonders if Obama was briefing her,” the outlet reported.

Voilà! Clinton is “directly involved” in the Taliban exchange — because Jake Tapper wondered about it. Actually, Tapper tells me, he wondered no such thing, and the human events link provides no evidence. But, by way of confirmation, Fox’s Catherine Herridge also found it “noteworthy” that Bergdahl’s release came just as the Benghazi excerpts from Clinton’s new book had come out.

A bit of idle speculation was all Obama’s critics (particularly those at Fox) needed to fire up the Benghazi scandal machine.

“This is a Fox News Alert,” Eric Bolling proclaimed at the start of Fox’s “The Five” on Tuesday. “The story surrounding the president’s deal with the Taliban is huge, Benghazi-huge.”

A few hours later, Fox strategic analyst Ralph Peters told Megyn Kelly that “what you just saw and heard was Benghazi 2.0.”

It isn't just happening at this forum with PaceDog, Chrissy, and Markle..... It is happening everywhere with the GOP..... Pathetic, but true....

Obama brought it on. Himself

More from that piece:

Obama’s opponents came up with more links than a sausage factory. People in both instances had signed nondisclosure agreements! In both cases, there were contradictory accounts of what happened! Fox’s Sean Hannity found a tie between the two in his contention that “we’re being lied to an awful lot.”

Former congressman Allen West (R-Fla.) found the two instances similar because “there is a lot to this whole episode — like Benghazi — that we may never know.”

Luckily for West, knowledge is not a requirement. He has already declared l’affaire Bergdahl an impeachable offense.

We should just dare Boehner to try to impeach Obama. He's too overwhelmed trying to manage the worst Congress since Harry Truman's "Do Nothing Congress."

And the story changes daily.
Democrats are changing their opinions daily... from approving the exchange, then the story broke that he walked way and the Dems were appalled by the exchange, now they are backing Obama for making the exchange.

Good grief.

Regardless of which side you're on with this,  that line is worthy of Jon Stewart himself.  lol

Jon's way too smart to make such a mind-numbingly ignorant analogy.

I think its cute you running around here, keeping your head low and your tone even. Playing your cards just the right time each little reply like a well trained high wire monkey act. place a foot here, spin, step.

Its not a simple concept as much as you wish to make it.

This man is a traitor and good men DIED because of his actions. Obama knew this and decided to give up 5 top terrorist leaders which has now put this country and its soldiers or citizens in danger. Even many democrats understand this. You can stop the act now and go back to your chicken fucking.

Nope.

The military has already said that there is no evidence that anyone was killed as a direct result of the search for him.

And prisoner exchanges after armed conflicts are not uncommon.

Here, let a military man explain it to you ....

Rear Adm. John F. Kirby, the Pentagon spokesman, said that there was a larger matter at play: The American military does not leave soldiers behind. “When you’re in the Navy, and you go overboard, it doesn’t matter if you were pushed, fell or jumped,” he said. “We’re going to turn the ship around and pick you up.”

PeeDawg's thread about the Vietnam deserter is also instructive.

You'll see that the Marines first order of business was bringing the dude home.

Then, they got around to prosecuting him.

But, you bring 'em home first.

Well... that is unless you drone them... of course.

This has been covered before, but I guess it can't be said often enough .....

The staggering hypocrisy of this becomes immediately apparent when you realize that the very same folks who would grant an unconditional pardon to the traitorous Edward Snowden, a man who provably and self-admittedly gave aid and comfort to our adversaries during time of war and who continues to do so to this very day, these same people would proclaim Snowden a hero and leave Bergdahl to die unlamented in a Taliban cave – solely because they despise Barack Obama and for no other reason.

For the last two years, these very same people have been screaming for Obama’s impeachment, because the President ordered the targeted killing of Anwar al-Awlaki, an American who publicly renounced his citizenship, declared his allegiance to our sworn enemies, and who then actively took up arms against the United States and loudly encouraged others to do so as well. These same people would sacrifice untold numbers of American soldiers to capture a self-declared terrorist and give him a trial because they simply cannot and will not acknowledge that the president did the right thing, but these very same people would condemn Bergdahl and leave him to rot in Afghanistan without so much as an Article 32 hearing, solely to further their blind hatred of Barack Obama.

For the last eighteen months these very same people have been screaming for Obama’s impeachment. Impeachment? Hell, some of these silly sons of bitches, including sitting members of Congress and members of the military, have marched on the White House demanding the actual overthrow of the United States government and the imprisonment or death of the President, because four Americans died in Benghazi, Libya. They are outraged, outraged beyond logic, beyond prudence, beyond reason, because they believe Obama didn’t do absolutely everything possible up to and including an armed military invasion to save those men. But these same people, these very same people, would leave an American soldier to die at the hands of the Taliban and they refuse to cheer his safe return, solely because they hate Barack Obama beyond all rational bounds and they will not allow this administration any victory no matter how small – even when they themselves have been condemning Obama for leaving an American serviceman in the hands of our enemies.

I don't know about any other Conservatives but I harbor no hate for President Barack Hussein Obama. Aside from the rumors of a pending divorce, he seems like an okay guy and a good father. I do HATE what he is doing to our country and to the rest of the world. That is unforgivable.

Oh, yeah, Markle, feed the rumor mill...with nothing to back it up. And his predecessor in office did more damage to the country than President Obama will ever do...while you stood by and cheered his every move, even to the point of continuing to defend him after the fact. What do they pay you?
