It is my understanding the NLRB has ruled that Northwest Football Players can organize as employees. I will try to get a link, but this will be earth shattering if players get a piece of the big ten and SEC.......huge money. A kid might get out of college with a degree and a million dollars in the bank......this will be fought all the way to the Supreme Court.

I don't mind them getting paid. I don't even mind separating the athletic and scholastic... a year of school per year of sport... to be taken anytime and transferable. What I don't like is a union worming into the middle... they should use lawyers and agents. What I think we'll see is a uniformed pay scale to start.

It is a David and Goliath battle. The folks at Northwestern are some of the brightest people in the nation......they are trying to have a level playing field. Curt Flood got steamrolled........time is in favor of the players.

Good.

College Football brings in big money and the talented players directly contribute. What will that player have, after increasing the college revenue, and he suffers a career ending injury?

I agree. These kids are exploited like a Malaysian garment worker who works part time air traffic control.

Just give kids 10% of the gate in their sport. Seven million to be divided by 85 players or a little over 80k for a season for Alabama, and as little as 15k for a Vanderbilt kid, but in the end the kids are going to have a piece of the pie.

80 thousand taken from the head coach's salary and perks would never be missed.

You forget that football pays the bills for minor sports at big universities and if they did not those sports would not exist. Plus, thst pot gets split with the women as well and if you pay the men's sports ya gotta pay women's as well

They never think about women's sports.

Joani,

Title IX makes sure they remember.

It is all a scam. On real sports tonight they talked about the graduation rate of sport participants who are funneled into general studies courses and cannot read at a fourth grade level. They steal their athletic ability to profit at the gates and the players leave with injuries and worthless degrees. The NCAA is an open sewer.
