Gates accuses Obama of Not Listening to Generals

Yeah, sure. Could it be the reason that Obama wasn't listening to and believing all the crapola the generals were dishing out was our history of what happens when we did listen?

Like the Bay of Pigs
Like the Cuban Missile Crisis when the Pentagon wanted to nuke Russia?
Or Vietnam (during which the generals kept telling us we were winning while we sacrificed some 58,000 lives until the same generals lost the war?)
Or Iraq?
Or Afghanistan?

Hey Mr. Gates, thanks for your service, now go off quietly into the night and disappear forever. We've had enough of you and your fucking generals!

It was recently revealed that prior to and during the Cuban Missile Crisis, Kennedy and Khrushchev exchanged private letters complaining to each other about the pressure they were receiving from their generals to go to nuclear war. In essence, they were asking each other for ideas how to oppose the war-mad generals. This was the real background of how we escaped nuclear conflagration during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

The thing to consider is, generals have relatively little power until there is a war. They live, train, study and pray for wars to prove their "mettle."

Only generals have that much love for war.

One step forward... two steps back. Why didn't he just keep his promise to get out? That half-assed bs is political/ideological.

That little thread the pd put up a month or so ago about more generals being fired under Obama........Well read this morning Gates recommended to Obama to get rid of 120 4 stars. This article was about 4 star pensions.

The pentagon employees almost a million civilian contractors... wtf do they do? They sure as hell aren't paid military scale.

Well you're right they should get rid of most of them also. You know most of the govt agency's are well over staffed.
